  1. All brands have their issues and more often than not it's a roll of the die as to whether or not the user and/or support experience is great or terrible. I've read things like "I'll never buy x because they burned me once. Y has never let me down." and the other way round so many times that I'm confident, especially in the motherboard market, that it makes absolutely no difference. So the best way for me has been to patiently wait and not jump on new architectures, chipsets or even models right away. Give it a few months and any potential issues will likely have surfaced after which it's much easier to make a good decision.

  3. Congratulations on the Thermaltake award. It's very nice looking, Paul, and you and Joe definitely deserve it.
I can't wait for you to get back to making videos in the garage. I miss watching your home videos that weren't 100% tech related, or some that were not tech related at all.

  4. Question about ram. I have 32GB (2×16) of VulcanZ DDR4 3200 with fast timings CL16 18 18 38. I can get 32GB more but not at these timings. The best available (same make at a reasonable price) is 3200 CL16 20 20 40. So, if I buy the slower RAM should I slow down the timings on my original better RAM to match the new RAM for system stability?
I'm thinking the performance gain from more RAM will outweigh the loss from a slight timing change. Or is it just too dumb to mix RAM at all?
    Thank you, love the show!

  6. When it comes to the pcie nvme 4.0 and 5.0 drives question I think the answer for most people would be to save your money or put it towards a better gpu or cpu. PCIE 5.0 drives to me are a waste of money and all the bring with them is extra heat and therefor worry. All pcie 4.0 drives is even almost overkill, 1 pcie 4 nvme drive at 1 – 2tb and the rest being 3.0 nvme is still fast enough to hardly notice period. Once NVME and m.2 slots are full normal sata 3,0 ssd's hardly feel any slower and have become dirt cheap

  7. PAUL, are people who think they need a better GPU than a GTX1080Ti insane?
Is your favorite laptop a Lenovo Legion or a Lenovo Thinkpad?
Are Paul's Hardware and Gamers Nexus the best Tech Channels on Youtube?
Should I buy a proper GPU support or just use a wooden stick to support my EVGA 1080Ti ftw3 to prevent bending the board?

  8. Tou were unboxing boxes, that you have to box them again, because you are moving home now.
Can’t wait for the moving vlogs, and the pimp my house vlogs (you said you’ve done some upgrades).
Ps: keep up the good work. I agree with Thermaltake 100%!

  9. Funny enough Dark coffee roast has less caffeine than normal or light. Just means it has been roasted longer. Roasting it longer gets rid of some of the caffeine. It also makes it more bitter.

  10. Regarding e-waste. As long as the hardware is working it can be used for something. If it’s too old for modern programs then most likely it’s starting to become retro. For example Pentium 4 is obsolete but is perfectly useful for a retro build.

  11. As a 3060 owner i canceled nvidia for sure after they refused to support even previous 30 series with their dlss 3 scam! Will buy a AMD card next time, even if they also suck sometimes at least their respond isn't ''Screw you!'' like scammer nvidia. By the way the most pro-consumer company i've ever seen is Acer, they try to not false advertise like some laptop producers and deliver capable laptops, for example the best budget laptops are theirs..

  12. Ahh you sold the stuff, I was wondering why people had random boxes of stuff in the photo ("Did they just bring their hardware to a fan meet? Was there a giveaway?")

*….I have those same scissors. But from like 2001.

  13. When I built my first computer back in the late 90's, I went with a couple of Western Digital 13.6 GB HDD's. One died within the warranty period, and when I called them to get it replaced, they told me it only had a 1 year warranty, despite the paper warranty in the package saying 2 years. Being my senior year in high school, I wasn't about to hire a lawyer to fight them, so I swore I would never by WD drives ever again.

It took a while… but eventually I started buying their drives again. Now I have several WD/HGST drives.

  14. Didn't know about the Lenovo supefish. Just checked it out. It'a so bad it's actually funny.

But there are other reasons I will never buy a Lenovo again. Every single Lenovo that either I or other friends/family have bought, died in no more than 3 years which is pathetic.

  15. Civ is also great when having kids. Nothing scary on screen and you can just get up and tend to whatever happens without dealing with pausing ect. (my kids tends to wake up at ask for water in the evenings)

  16. The answer to the first question as it didn’t contain a real answer. You could easily have listed at least one brand to be cautious with and at least one that currently is reliable and customer friendly.

Have you considered making a website in collaboration with channels like Gamer’s Nexus, Jay’s Two Cents, Hardware Canucks etc. where you keep an up to date points based ranking list of companies based on their product reliability and customer handling? It could include reference links to things that affected the position on the list and like with a music top seller list could feature changes in ranking and points along with reasons for the changes. With a collaboration you could minimise the risk of bias.
