The recent balance update introduced some new changes to drones that have many people fairly upset. I’ve been speaking with a lot of people, running numbers, making comparisons, and here are my thoughts.

  1. Been having issues in my algos2assault and the new drones. Having to fly around and go back and collect the offencive drones that can't keep up with my ship is really annoying. There is no reason a small drone should be flying slower than a destroyer with mwd on.

  2. I'm 50/50 on this, I mean drones have always been a deterrent for interceptors, things like a solo interceptor 2 small drones was a good deterrent. Now the interceptor is essentially immune. I've not played with them enough to really comment but yeah DPS of inties needs lowering and Assault Frigates increasing.

  3. yeah for pve in a brawl Rattlesnake i find the drones better . yes they won`t keep up with elite frigs but i can still take them out quicker with the drones as they are now. large missiles and the drones, easily clear scouts and inq¬s solo

  4. I’ll admit I overreacted when I first saw this change. Pre nerf drones, a dragoon’s drones could kill an interceptor without any assistance of other modules. Now I will need to actually put some thought into what I fit, which isn’t a bad thing.

  5. I like changes… I do think though that a change must have a bit more field testing before reverting back. There has been very quick back-peddling with the last few balance changes. This in general, really not a drone pilot myself.

  6. so wait… your argument that the drone nerf (to an already underperforming weapon system) is that intercepters SHOULD be unkillable and have 0 counter play in game? Small drones where the only weapon that could possibly hit the 7k m/s needed to kill a cepter.

  7. I fly a drone ship and I like the changes the one thing I would like to see them do it make the pictures of the assault and offensive drone different so that it is easier to swap drones.

    I feel that some people are just complaining as they are not able to just send a drone out and AFK there way to a win. Or just Kate people.

    One things that I do really feel that the dev need to fix is the drone staying on a target when you leave range. It a good thing that people have to use other weapon systems it also might help bring down the cost of drone and they are really overpriced.

  8. Small drones is exactly the kind of weapon system that should be able to kill fast ships. It is not reasonable that small weapons struggle to hit small ships like ceptors while battleships (with webs) can one-shoot them and carriers have no problems taking them down. / Nandorsilver

  9. So, I am conflicted on this for PvP.

    I understand the small drones shouldn’t keep up with interceptors because they are supposed to be hard to hit tackle ships. I would be good with that concept if.. and only if… this nerf accompanied a nerf to interceptor DPS. As long as interceptors are nasty combat ships that can also tackle, this nerf is bad.

    Small drones are for small ships and to fight small ships. You’ve said it before, that large weapons shouldn’t hit small ships the way they do. Well, if you nerf the small drones to the point that they can’t hit small ships because they can’t keep up… isn’t that a bit stupid? To take away the ability of the properly sized weapon to hit the properly sized ship? That’s like taking small cannons and nerfing their tracking so they can’t hit small ships. You would never go for that concept.

    Did drones need a speed nerf? Probably. 50% on the small drones? I think that was a bit too much.

    I like the offence/assault drones are BPs. That is a step in the right direction for indy. Now they need to take all the faction drones and make them BPs and while they are at it, why not just make all those LP faction modules BPs.

  10. My main gripe is that faction wargames isn't something peeps really like doing, and yet you lock these bps behind that wall.

    Takes a long time to connect to a single match. If they would freshen it up a bit by adding new games modes, them throwing additional crap into that loot pool wouldn't be such an annoyance

  11. As a heavy drone user, i really don't see the point of freaking out about the pulse bomb. They're not actually that strong and it can only hit 10 drones, in large pvp that amount is nothing

    Plus the bomb can hit allies drones, more importantly logi drones. So using it will be complicated

  12. As a Dragoon pilot, I can confirm that speed rigged interceptors hard counter Dragoons post drone speed nerf. Moot though, since it’s changing again in a couple of days. The new drone BPs are not tradable which is interesting from a manufacturing standpoint point. The LP prices are crazy high, but NE said they’d add the bps to scouts. Hopefully it’s not just T9-10 scouts.

  13. totally off topic. What is the music?? … because now i hear "freestyler" over and over in my head… ugh XD

    as a droneboat pilot from day one (rattle was my dream ship back then) i never thought they were bad. yes, low dps but high in survivability and flexibility. IN PVE. … need more time in my battle astero to be out of the theory aspect. (good point there btw)

    i do dislike that the new drone bps are account bound… mostly because me and my alts are set up wrong for it, lol.

  14. If the developers are looking for data then I shouldn’t have to lose something to prove a point to them. The burden of proof falls to them to figure out, not me.

    Perhaps the drone implants can implement speed boosts?

    Perhaps drone ships can gain buffs for them?

  15. I’m not big in PvP and not active look for it. So my PvP in EE is to avoid it. Transport stuff, explore, mining and PvE or try to fight of player bothering our space. So the below is from this point.

    I think if interceptor would loose a bit DPS the whole drone change would not be preserved that badly.
    For me my null ratting Rattlesnake or Dominix always has a large Neutraliser. This usually takes care of small fast ships. There are some with dual cap batteries or out range the Neutraliser, but that’s rare. But as said not much exp in Pvp and it’s more on paper…

    I fly glass canon fits but an Apoc, RS or Dominix should last a while against a frigate.

    If try to hunt down intruders my go to ships are VIN, Prophecy and Dominix. They usually would have some E-war to mess with their weapons, Neutraliser etc.

  16. Now what about armor nerf? Already trying different fits with shields on ashimu and bhalgorn xD

    BTW Benzie, did u know, that Bhaalgorn with 2 integrated rigs 70% 3 holes on armor resists with two adaptives on armor has nearly same resists as the bhaalgorn WITHOUT any rigs at all but with 2 shield adaptives. Yeah, yeah, armor has more resists, they said xD

    PS drones are absolutely dead now. He shows small drones and says some crap about how fast are they. Middle drones had better speed, then these "new" small drones. OMG. Benzie how much are you being paid to tell us all that crap? You can't say this sht freely, or may be netease are holding your pet as a hostage?

  17. I don’t think looking a single weapon system behind the LP store make sense (lucky they change that).
    Drones already have no C-Type and the green one are super expensive as they are only available in LP store. Additional they can get shot down.

    All other weapon have green and C-Type easy available and are super cheep…

    There should be a balance here… I not in general against LP store only items.

  18. You are wrong. Drones should be able to kill interceptors. FUCK INTERCEPTORS. Un-fuck drones, now. Seriously, people have been telling the devs that interceptors are cancer for 2 years and they suddenly crap on drones when zero people asked for drones to be nerfed? I don't get it…can other ships besides interceptors please have any relevance in the game, or at least not lose what little relevance they have?

  19. Nothing can kill an interseptor now. Some intersuptors have 55-60km warp distruptor range dragoon – algos can never send the drones at that range. So quit it and say is good thing now the destroyers are usless. Even more then before. And don't take devs side they even named the new drones wrong. And who is gonna buy an assault dron if it coasts 300 million to get it wiped out by 2 anti drone pulse 😂😂😂 it's a joke. And as you know the miners have drones and they couldn't defend them self and now they will never hit a intersuptor and they will die. My alt is 100% dragoon. Main im not using the alt now.

Yesterday i killed a dramiel with a raven fitted with large normal missiles without web and today I cant shoot a slasher with a worm in a lvl 10 npc. Wtf you talking about? It misses 100% of the time znd can't keep up following it. I think you should think twice before talking nonsense.

  21. • Interceptors are OP by near-universal acclamation. Making it harder for drones to hit them just makes them even more OP. If interceptors had no top slots, that would make sense. But they do, and it doesn't.
    • Not sure if this is a good change or bad, but it certainly doesn't help the game overall. I skilled drone up to 555 for the substantial speed boost. Was that a wasted effort?
    • Green Drone Blueprints: Why only one drone per blueprint? Because reasons…
    • Bottom line: Small drones should be fast enough to catch frigates – that's what they're built for.

  22. new drones isn't about industrialists, i can get bp on them, becous i have perfect skills on frig and 30lvl implant and 3 chips lvl 8, so i can anigilate enemy. Oh and good skills on cap + implant, on event.
