The Geriatric Ravers Still Smashing Drugs: Gravers | High Society

It’s commonly accepted that your 20s is the time to get completely off your nut before calming down and respecting yourself. But increasingly, it seems that British people have a different idea.

Over 3.7 million over-45s go raving once a week in the UK, and there has been a 518 per cent increase in over-60s being treated for cocaine abuse since ten years ago.

These older ravers face worrying health risks that younger ravers don’t – the drugs are stronger, and their hearts aren’t. Will physiology prove to be the ultimate party pooper, or have these pioneers unlocked the key to eternal youth?

The War on Drugs has been won. By drugs. They’re everywhere. Many of them are new, and they’re all more potent. Society is altering chemicals, and chemicals are altering society back, creating new drug scenes – some funny, some bizarre, some terrifying.

Drugs on TV usually mean criminals getting busted or addicts in recovery. But this series is about the cultures and people that have grown around the substances.

High Society will show you how drugs are shaping our world.

  1. Addicts are just puré selfish. All addiction stems from trauma. I know women in they late 40s still on cocaine every weekend since the age of 20. No consideration for they school children what so ever. Just lost people running from they inner pain and emotions.

  2. Drugs getting stronger 😂😂more lile shitter, you show me a jub that smacks like a love dove or misty turbo, hell even the Charlie may as well be baking soda now compared to the 90s and 80s 😂😂😂

  3. If you think .. the rave culture in the UK was started by people in their late 40 early 50’s..I was dancing in fields in 88/89,and still go out in moderation today .At one time it was their way of life.I guess people just don’t want to get old.

  4. Begs the question, do you want to die normal, or on your terms when dancing and enjoying yourself around happy people. Not everyone has a 'normal' family at home who eats dinner etc.

  5. We seem to be confusing 'partying' with serious drug addiction, here.. or at least putting them in the same category. Part time raving, doing a bit of speed and a pill and maybe smoking a few spliffs once a month is recreational drug use. Those other two geezers are drug addicts. One seems to be a complete full time pro and the other seems to be a proper binger. I just wanted to draw a distinction between the subject of when 'young people should or shouldn't stop partying' and life threatening drug addiction.
