In ancient Athens, a brave but troubled king, Aegeus, ruled with wisdom. Yet, a dark shadow loomed: a cruel tribute imposed by King Minos of Crete. Every nine years, fourteen youths were sent to Crete to face the Minotaur in a labyrinth. This fate seemed inevitable until a hero, Theseus, son of Aegeus, volunteered to confront the monster. Blessed by his father, Theseus sailed to Crete. Ariadne, daughter of Minos, secretly gave him a magic thread to navigate the labyrinth. Theseus fought and defeated the Minotaur, freed the youths, and returned to Athens. However, in his excitement, he forgot to raise the white sail. Seeing the black sail, King Aegeus, in despair, leapt into the sea. Theseus returned as a hero, but with deep sorrow.
