Transcript: why China and Japan are fighting over these tiny islands? China is involved in many border arguments. One of the major disputes among them is the East China Sea dispute. This sea has a group of islands named the Diaoyu Islands in China and the Senkaku Islands in Japan. Both countries are in a fight over these islands in the sea. The problem got worse in 2012 when it was found that the islands had huge oil and gas reserves underneath.
Japan says no one ruled the islands until 1895 and thatβs when Japan took control. But China says they owned the islands before that. Some other examples of Chinaβs territorial disputes over land are with India, Tibet, Taiwan, etc. which we will cover in the next videos.
