  1. Then I would be adjusting my room steward tips by half!!! Too bad the staff has to suffer.
I've been cruising since the 80s and the cuts I've seen are insane. I'm done with cruises. All inclusive resorts are more fun for us now. Straw that broke the camel's back.

  2. When a recession is imminent cruise lines are going about things the wrong way if they want to retain the increase in passenger numbers. Piss enough people off and the effect can be quite detrimental given the options out there currently. The value in cruising for quality is possibly about to reach tipping point in 2023 if the trend continues, more ÂŁÂŁ for less. Not good news the last few months.

  3. With the huge hike in fuel costs, the cruise lines have had to make choices, just like us. We can pay more for our cruises and have twice a day cabin service or we can pay a reasonable cost and just have once a day service. Everything has gone up (housing, rent, groceries etc). The is is what it is. :-(…..but if you can still go on a cruise, you’re in the top % of wealth in the World.

  4. It's should have been I stateroom cleaning a day from the beginning, at a business stand point its common sense for 1 day so you won't waste time, products, and money. For a guess stand point 1 per day is perfect for me, and if you want more then you pay for the extra cleaning

  5. Congratulations to you and Don for getting to go on an amazing cruise with such an amazing itinerary. Have a great time. QUESTION: When you are on the Sky Princess, please let us know what you think of the food quality. Many people have been saying it isn’t as good as it used to be. Hoping they bring the quality back. Appreciate it. Looking forward to hearing about both cruises.

  6. Please Royal Caribbean, don't go to just once a day cabin cleaning on all ships. Don't cheapen our experience like Carnival continued to do. Try to be at least a step above Carnival…

  7. I don’t mind the once a day. It’s the lying about sustainability that bothers me. It’s a cost savings, be honest about it. If they lie about the little things, what else are they lying about. The worst cutback though is with the 24 hr pizza.

  8. I would prefer they “save the waves” by not replacing the towels twice a day- I don’t understand why they have the posted policy saying to hang the towel up if ok with keeping it and toss on the floor if you need it replaced. Our room attendants replace them no matter what. We have sailed multiple times since the restart and the room attendants have too many rooms – with this change they will probably have even more if they only have to visit each room once. Less employees equals less cost. So I agree with you that they are just trying to spin it. Our first cruise was 30 years ago and we have watched Royal decrease many things – like cabin size and now using plain napkins. While they increase other things – like bigger fancier ships with many attractions. But they offer a product that I am still currently willing to purchase.

  9. Seeing comments in the FB groups, there seems to still be a worker shortage. If we see some service improvements in other parts of the ship then it is reasonable, but I don't have faith that is the case.

  10. NCL just increased their tip amounts AFTER having their best-ever revenue quarter. They have eliminated their service levels and their MDR leaves a lot to be desired. Royal is probably just following the other lines, but I like it when we have the option of 1 or 2 times a day and are asked on the 1st day by our cabin steward.

  11. As a family cruising-I like the 2nd “service” because I want the couch during the day and the bed made for the kids at night. On NCL they kept the couch as a bed the whole week and it sucked not having a place to sit except a bed.

  12. G’day from downunder. I disembarked from the Ovation of the Seas Wednesday 7th December 2022. I noticed a lot of cuts and one was one room service per day. Also, toiletries were cut. We received only small tubes of body wash…..Very disappointed. Lucky I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner. One room attendant only. I did notice cuts also through the ship….entertainment a little disappointing as well. Majority of the time the entertainment were comedians…very good, but only three live shows on an eleven day cruise. Had a great time but the cuts were very noticeable!!!!

  13. I'm not cool with it! They are cutting costs by cutting services and insulting our intelligence by saying that it is to save the environment. Like you said, its one little thing today and another one tomorrow. There are still some lines that have not cut services. You should book those cruises instead. By walking away you are hurting their pocketbook. If enough people do that, they will have to reconsider their cutbacks.

  14. We cruised on Quantum last week, out of Brisbane, Australia.

We were told the 1 service per day was due to some crew having delays with their work Visas and also told it was due to Crew Covid cases.

In reality it's a Cost Cutting exercise.
The service generally was dreadful on Quantum, compared to the other 3 lines we've cruised with in 2022 – Princess (Medallion is AWESOME), Holland America and Celebrity.

How can we book to get on your NEW ZEALAND cruise?
It's not showing in HOLLAND AMERICA website!
