The Adelson Family & Dan Markel: Wealthy Family Who Thinks They're The Sopranos, Hires Hitman

In July of 2014, renowned criminal law professor Dan Markel, a respected figure at Florida State University, was murdered–shot in the head– in his garage. As police investigated who could have done this, they began uncovering a web of lies, conspiracy, a wealthy family from Southern Florida, and a murder-for-hire plot.

  2. Seems to me there is no evidence against Wendy or Harvey or they'd have already been arrested. That doesn't mean they didn't know, it just means they were smart enough to not be directly involved in the planning.

  3. IF Wendy did not know/help with planning the details of the hitmen for his murder, she ATLEAST knew who did it when she found out he was murdered…It had been talked about by her brother to her. Wendy's ex-boyfriend even said she told him her brother talked about killing Dan in 2013 and other times "joked" about it. Its hard to imagine she didnt know prior that there would atleast be a hit on Dan, just maybe wasnt told the details. I think it was likely that her brother told her he would "take care" of Dan, that he would get him killed, but didn't give her any specifics. Therefore, no evidence would implicate her and she wouldn't have to lie to the police about the plot and details. She would forever be protected since she had no knowledge or part in the planning. I believe she knew Dan was going to be murdered but didnt know how or who her brother was going to get to carry it out.

  4. Would love to have a deeper dive into this case. This podcast feels like a preview that lets you know all of the players. Not that you didn’t do an amazing job. It’s just so complex but it’s just fascinating that these people feel like they won’t get caught. These kids don’t have a father because his mom and her family had someone kill him.

  5. Annie- Just a wonderful explanation & summary of this case! You did a great job of pulling out the salient points and presenting them in a clear and fascinating “story”.

Thanks much and keep up the good work.

  6. Great work as always Annie. Thanks for covering this one. Watched a podcast on this a couple years ago and nobody from the family had yet to be charged and I could not believe that. Thanks for the update. Finally some justice for this dude

  7. I’ve watched a ton of these including court tv and a bunch of others that are reputable and they give nowhere near the depth or coherence of the whole story. Now I get how it all went down. Bravo

  8. Wendi is far from innocent. Yeah she might be a food actress but there are things she said during the 5 hour interview that showed she knew all about it and that she was acting. 1st is the list of people who could've killed him 2nd the call to her mother 3rd her statement they wouldn't have done it. Rather strange comment to make, if I was innocent I know I would never make that comment. Now on the stand her nervous laugh showed that she knew and her trying to say "until today" she displayed the classic liar's phrase of denial. Her avoiding the question of having knowledge or suspecting when it first happened she did a rapid blink set showing she's lying
