  1. I was really happy to see you focus on Tori Taylor's rescue, Horses of Gili in Indonesia. She's doing remarkable things there. Not only does she never turn any animal away, whether horse or other animals, she also helps support ALL the island's working ponies, not just the ones in her rescue. She helps educate locals on better horse care, provides feed, tack, lessons, medical supplies, worming, farrier work, free water (there is no water on the islands, it must be shipped in or bought from a desalinization plant), etc. Her donations have dropped as the islands have reopened after covid, yet her needs are higher than ever.
It's too bad she couldn't have come, but it was nice to get a little exposure. Hopefully some people will see that, get curious like I did, and go follow Horses of Gili. And maybe she'll get some more much-needed donations.

  2. What happens if someone can't afford the surrounder fee. I know from experience in not have the money to surrender a cat or dog, and someone that just brought their dog to a wooded area and left it there, because they didn't have the money to pay the surrender fee. Other people lied to the spca and say they found a stay cat or dog for the same reason.

  3. it would not be so horrible if the US had not banned horse slaughter at all – thus the huge transport lines to Mexico and Canada. And if slaughter conditions were better, all in all. If you consume any other kind of meat, you can always chose from the best "production" line and from your local producer/butcher. Here in Germany very few people eat horse meat. In France & Italy its very common – so we also have those transport lines. Worst: Each animal safed from slaughter pipeline is replaced by new cheap "horse meat" from Poland, Austria i. e.
We also have huge pipelines for cattle, sheep, pigs etc. to other parts of the world. WHY? Kill it humanely. freeze it and transport it this way, not alife and dying on the way.
Stop that transport business – that would be the key to most of the evil.
You cannot change folks that wear out their animals and throw them to kill byers for a final profit. But you could oblige the kill buyers to immediate slaughter after minimal transport, maybe. The worst thing; i bet here in Europe there is money in that transport business, and thats why they do not put an end to it. Maybe the same in US?

  4. This was such a great video. I enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone seemed happy to be there. Dr. Nancy's idea of having interns come and see what happens there is a fabulous idea. They need to see the horror and the good. Thanks for the great job all of you do. It's very impressive.

  5. Gosh I was already crying at the beginning of this episode – and at the end again. So many amazing organizations! What they had to say was very interesting and I learned more. This program is absolutely amazing! Networking is so incredibly important. And to see so many come together to make a real change for animals touched my heart deeply. What Tawnee and Jason did from such a small starting point is really astonishing. And to share it with others so more and more animals can get the help they need – very inspiring! I really, really hope one day the slaughter across the world will not exist in the way it does now harming so many innocent animals. A big thank you to every single person working so hard towards this goal!

  6. The thing I love about Horse Plus is that they are so transparent! They really are an open book, and the shair what they have learned. That they want to set up a network of shelters working together. it is not about them, it is about the horses. and the horses futures.

  7. I had tears in my eye when I saw the list of rescue organizations in the opening, recognizing the hope they all had in coming, and the hope and reassurance they were receiving, and the inspiration and confidence they went home with. So proud of you all!

  8. An absolute eye opened to all. My heart broke when it first started as the message Was clear. These people were all enger to learn and to provide the best for the horse. I am a monthly donor and can see what a little can do.

  9. If you cannot be a rescue, then gather others who are outraged about this inhumane practice of shipping them to Canada and Mexico which is supposed to be illegal to do that across US borders, but heck with people coming in that should not, it is not surprising that no accountability or arrests are made at border that are shipping to slaughter. So, for those who can't be running a rescue, there needs to be pressure put on laws on the books being applied. Writing to your own state representatives, getting people who are willing to attend protests about this subject and bringing the horrors to light even if that means covert filming at what actually happens to these sentient beautiful animals on the transports and when they arrive at the nightmare butchering places. Most people are not even aware. We see so much about dog farming in Korea and elsewhere and the horrific way they are kept before they go to the markets has brought awareness. The only way these barbaric things will get slowed down or even stopped is to keep being loud about it as much as possible. Tawnee is right on when she says, you and all of us interested in helping need to get the story out there, meaning utilize social media as much as possible. Maybe check with local colleges or schools where students are interested in video production , photography and that sort of thing, many would be happy to volunteer to make and edit videos for rescues to have a channel on U tube. It is also so important to learn of the many things you can do for fund raising, offering multiple ways to donate easily, put notifications out when you are coming up to going to an auction saying how much needs to be raised, fundraising for ANY needs whether you put out an Amazon WIsh list, or just a list of things needed that people can buy from vendors of their own choice and ship to you. I think Horse Plus has and is doing a wonderful job, each year they seem to be getting more professional and of course having Dr Nancy on staff is amazing. Perhaps you can reach out to vet schools and when people are getting ready to graduate and have specialized in large animal care, offer them a position. Tawnee just told us that Dr Nancy wants to do that as well as provide on site accomodations….what a great idea! So much to be done and it may seem like an unsurmountable task to make a real difference, but there are more people who IF THEY KNEW, would be glad to donate funds and or volunteer their time to go out to the rescues and help out.

  12. It's long past time to LOBBY OUR GOVERNMENT to make it ILLEGAL to transport horses out of America for ANY REASON, and to make horse products ILLEGAL! Levy HUGE FINES for those who disregard this law!
What's the story with America's mustangs? They should be protected instead of rounded-up and penned for years at a time.
Who determined cattle ranchers and big business have more rights to wild horse grazing land than the horses that considered that land THEIR NATURAL HOME and HABITAT for generations?
America needs laws to PROTECT ITS NATURAL RESOURCES from ENCROACHMENT FOR PROFIT!.

  13. I wonder how many people are deterred from surrendering horses or dogs that need help because of the surrender fee? If a person falls into financial trouble, that fee might be a deterrent and the few hundred they make from slaughter might be appealing. I hope that isn't the case but feels like it might be. I found in dog rescue that once the local shelter started charging a surrender fee, we started finding more dogs in horrific conditions or tied in the woods and abandoned etc… I am happy that people are now networking more in equine rescue because sometimes just being able to share ideas or even share horses from one area to the next might be the difference between life and death for individual horses.

  14. To the production team: so professional, so engaging, so well organized, excellent pace and storytelling, informative, are there any more adjectives to describe your attention to detail and highlighting each organization? That was your best vlog ever and deserves an award! Tawnee & Jason the 'conference' was well organized and executed with great speakers, educational stories and testimonies! HPHS has grown so much! The best part is how you are sharing your knowledge and expanding the philosophy of the Full Circle! You have made a big difference in the horse world! WOW!!!
