Starting A 93 Year Old ABANDONED Ford After It Sat For YEARS

Knocking on the door of it’s 100 year birthday, this Ford Model A was parked when it’s owner passed away and hasn’t been driven since. It’s bounced around from storage to storage with the owners even trying to sell it at one point. Before it heads off to California it needed to run for the transporters, so Eric and I decided to spend an afternoon bringing it back to life.

  1. No fuel pump, just good old gravity to feed the gas from the tank to the carb. My dad restored Ts & As in the 60s. We still have a 26 T roadster (now my brother's) and a 24 T Touring (now mine) that he restored in the early 60s. We got the 26 running over Memorial w/e – hadn't run in 25 yrs but she fired right up. The 24 hasn't been started for 10 yrs but it always starts. Hard to believe the 24 is almost 100 yrs old.

  2. Great video. You might enjoy this. January 6, 1968 we got married and used our 1930 Model A Cabriolet to go to the church and reception in snowy weather. Ran like a charm and still does. Yes, we still have it, and it also won a National First in 1970 and our color was Andalusite Blue.

  3. For those coming along later, do NOT try reversing the polarity of a positive ground vehicle. The polarity is NOT reversible. If you try it, you will be rebuilding your generator, and you will destroy expensive voltage regulators. Don’t do it.

  4. I wish people would stop using ABANDONED in these titles. JR uses it twice on the cover of this video. This car was never abandoned, not even for a minute. It has been nicely cared for for 100 years. Ohhh someone tried to sell it? Sure it still was never ABANDONED.
