  1. I'm really torn on Spat.. I love that he plays basically every single indie game out there but I find the humor / personality unbelievably grating and it feels like he goes out of his way to be annoying, do annoying voices, and rambles on unbelievably so… I really want to keep watching but I find I have to mute it because it drives me up the wall. Sorry Splat – I do love you but argh…

  2. Ah, kind of a nicer run build pew. Bravo !!
couple things to add / remove though:
    – better controls… there is mouse rotate in the menu, but when my pointer leaves the screen .. don't hide my mouse pointer !!
    – I too often die in ship upgrade , that should come with a small nuke or "repulsor-wave" that clears out / frees up the area around the ship.
    – a nuke you can trigger would be nice in general, maybe 1-3 per game.. maybe start with one and loot as a rare drop
    – Whats with the "fake" or "ghost" asteroids, these are the most annoying visually disturbing thing in the game !
    – Every ship upgrade should at least contain one weapon if there is one left in the deck !! I got three times only upgrades in a row, half my deck was weapons..

  3. "That any game has really had so far" Dude, ALL of these games have the currency to upgrade progress bar. Literally ALL of them. I recommend you sit a little further way from your monitor, and if you wear glasses, get your prescription updated. Look, I get it, you suck at most video games. But you have got to be, at the very least, master of what is right in front of your face. As a viewer, there is nothing more frustrating than the content creator missing the plainly obvious.

  4. Splat, go into settings and fiddl with the controls. Screen relative and either mouse-align or ship align and you ought to be able to have a more twin-stick shooter experience.

  5. I tried this, and it's fun, but I kept dying because I expect the ship to go forward when I press w, not just up on the screen.

So far, my best loadout and strategy has been to load as many of the rapid fire turrets as possible, and just sit. I unlocked +damage upgrades for them early.

  6. this game reminds me of an old 2d screens roller side Flashgame where you have this damaged ship and have to survive, you can repair parts of your ship with money earned by defeating enemy ships, build turrets and fighter wings or upgrade existing weapons.

I miss that game and games like it.

  7. "I'd like to be able to zoom out like 15%, I don't think you can though" Opens menu completely misses keybinds that zoom in/out as he rambles on… Game looks good! I've been thinking about learning UE5 for months to make a game more or less just like this, hope the dev is able to complete it. Thanks for the recommendation Splat!

  8. Good news Splat! I was just trying the demo and there are now several preset control methods to choose from for the ship and rotation, one of which is mouse align for rotate.

    Very much enjoyed the demo.

  9. Looks good but a little disappointed that I'm seeing some stock standard models like the XP gems and the UI that I've already seen in other games and on mobile of all things. It's clear that they're using a game maker engine kind of thing very much akin to when you see an RPG and it's like clear as night and day that it was made from RPGMaker. I'm not saying all RPGMaker games are bad but it does lower the quality by quite a bit and RPGM games have more garbage than gems.

  10. After watching Splat for as long as I have you have to know he trolls for comments, right?
Right there when looking at rebinding the keys in the game were the options to zoom in and out which of course he overlooked wink as he complained about that very thing.
Do you really think he didn't see them, really?
It's done to get comments telling him that thing you wanted was right there and you overlooked it.
You have to know by now he does this on purpose right?
It's a good business decision when you think about because it always leads to at least a few people pointing out in the comments of how he missed something.
Dudes a much better gamer than he says and you have to know by now it's all by design and I'm not knocking him for it as it's honestly pretty damned brilliant.
Thanks for another banger to put on my list even though I have over 400 games now that if I play 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 6 years, I might finish them all…

  12. Reminds me a lot of another indie game called Lazarus project which is a rogue-like bullet heaven game with the same kinda twin-stick kinda control scheme, with a nigh on identical upgrade system where you also fight bugs, but this time in a selection of mechs. Fun little games, might check this one out

  13. Splat is great, but I do wish he wasn't so strict about keeping his reviews at nearly exactly 30 minutes (with few exceptions)… I've seen a lot of reviews where I would have liked to see him finish his run/level/stage whatever… Like, did he just quit the game right then and there? I feel like he probably finished playing out that round, so why not show it?

Either way, keep up the great content!

PS. You should check out Marauders, it's an indy game in Tarkov style set in a diesel punk alternate history space setting, with great feeling gunplay but much less 'hardcore' and cumbersome. IE. one health pool where you don't have to heal separate limbs, guns have 1 ammo type instead of like 9 tiers of ammo for each caliber, a helmet will protect your whole head hitbox instead of leaving your face exposed like Tarkov, you don't have to level up your Strength, Stamina, etc… Plus boarding an enemy player's ship in a breaching pod is pretty great! (Recommend playing it in a group, though solo is still viable.)
