So when did you switch from "escape from Mars" to "conquest of Mars?"

I think upon the "official" escape from mars you should use that "experimental" jump drive they were talking about and start a "find our way home" series starting with the finished phoenix get a season 2 since i don't want it to end!

Well there is a base where you can get more hydrogen thrusters, lol. It is heavily defended with a ton of weapons and mines if I remember correctly.
The official escape should be done by space elevator
you guys should check out the old movie "Flight of the Phoenix" it is basically what you are doing, they crash in the libyan desert and build a new aircraft from the bits of the old one.
i also agree with aarno09, you should consider having a "drive incident" on the way home that jumps you to a random location in the galaxy and then planet hop your way back home.

you could use the Steel catwalk/armour panel block for the floor to cover the holes that are there where the large thrusters are so you could make the ship airtight.
If you change the grated catwalks on the inner belly for the normal ones you should be able to pressurise it again

When I see an aircraft reference to the "Phoenix" I think of the awesome movie with Jimmy Stewart "Flight of the Phoenix"
I believe Andrew is describing the belly turret (the least survivable position on the early versions of the aircraft, by the way).
Kanajashi, @ 8:00 reminds me of my first civilian jobs after my USAF time. I gutted and refurbished aircraft. A lot of them were primer green – so …. spooky flashback time. ha ha ha ha
That thing needs a back door, one small ship crashing in there spells doom, I've seen it in one other SE play years ago!
If that thing survives, I'd add just a bit more upthrust & some more fuel capacity before leaving the planet.

Is it just me, or did the rounds that took out Kanajashi's cockpit come from below? Like someone having a dysink issue in a ball turret accidentally shooting upward when they thought they had no ammo. ;D

I think the "ball turret" he was talking about was the under belly of a B-17, you showed a picture of the tail which is cool but not as cool as the turret on the belly.
Now can you get the ai to land the flyer in the bay while you’re under way?
Honestly I think it needs a couple more gatling turrets on top of the ship. Maybe some Missile Turrets or something else. Shrug. That is just me of course.

Hi, at 48:08 and after, we can see that the automatic cannons of the ball fire in the cockpit (they fire at 90°), it's an SE bug, and it sometimes happens with the sub-grids.
