In memoriam Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
[This documentary was originally released in 2013 and has since been updated.]
On 19 April 2005 Joseph Ratzinger was elected head of the Roman Catholic Church. He took the name Benedict XVI. Critics saw him as the embodiment of emotionless dogma; supporters viewed him as guardian of the true faith.
Benedict XVI. was the first German Pope for almost 500 years and only the second Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church to resign voluntarily. Even as a young theologian, Ratzinger, born on 16 April 1927 in the Bavarian village of Marktl am Inn, soon carved out a reputation as an outstanding scholar. He initially espoused progressive positions within the church and during the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), tackled the matter of how the life of the church might be directed in the 20th century and beyond.
But at the latest in 1981, when Pope John Paul II. appointed him head of the Catholic Churchโs spiritual watchdog, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he began to see himself as guardian of the churchโs treasury of faith. As Pope, he denounced the โMarxist tendenciesโ of the teachings of liberation theology in Latin America and Asia. He demanded the strict separation of church and politics. As pontifex maximus, he saw himself as less of a bridge-builder and more of a guardian of the truth. Time and time again, Pope Benedict XVI. had to respond in the name of the Catholic Church to allegations of abuse leveled at Catholic clergy. During the concluding mass of the International Year for Priests at the Vatican, the Pope issued a public apology. He remained in his post at the helm of the Holy See for eight years. But then, in the year 2013, he suddenly tendered his resignation. He felt his strengths were dwindling and โno longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministryโ. The abdication of Benedict XVI. was the first voluntary resignation of a Pope for more than 700 years. But even in the wake of his retirement, he was haunted by the scandalous conduct of Catholic clerics. An independent report concluded that during his tenure as the Archbishop of Munich, Benedict had known about allegations of sexual misconduct against pastors in his diocese.
This documentary looks at the background to this event, which was highly significant in terms of both world and church politics and gives an insight into the life of the former theology professor, bishop and head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

He knows now that his works had nothing to do with salvation.
This documentary is awful. The translations are poor at best and it's more of a hit piece. They make the man out to be a horrible person with no heart…..which is exactly what he wasn't. He was the most genuine kind hearted person I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
God rest his soul!
Despicable person.
Anyone that covers up for monsters destroying childrenโs lives is a a criminal in my book
He was a great defender of the Faith.
COULD YOU PLEASE STOP WITH ALL THE COMMERCIALS. JEEEEEZ!
Our true Pope returns home. The Church will suffer much like the disciples who were left by Jesus after His death, but be faithful we'll have ressurection. Pray everyday with revererence, w family and w friends if possible.
You rekindled my faith, Pope Benedict XVI. Rest in Peace
May the perpetual light shine upon our dear Pope! A Christian disciple indeed! R.I.P. ๐๐นโ๏ธ
The Gay Pontiff. He touched many…lives…sure he will be missed. ๐
The strength of your character and conviction lead us through difficult times. Pray for us, beloved Holy Father.
Heโs a prophet of our times. And Defended Jesus and His Church courageously, my Pope,
I've done research on the Inquisition and listened to the reports of historians studying the
opened archives of the Inquisition. They all state the Church has been deliberately and falsely
maligned. What's propagated regarding the Church are lies and fabrications by enemies of the Church, in particular Protestants.
A BBC documentary of interviews with the historians testifying this, was rapidly removed from sale on its release in the market.
Do a search and you may be fortunate to find a video of the documentary.
the Pope who made me want to go to Church!
Elisabeth Harth in this video, the activist for female priests is a fake and not Catholic at all.
Her statements are absolutely false. Those who know the Faith will instantly see that. I'm a practicing Catholic woman and know the teachings of the Faith. I would never have anything to do with a 'woman priest' neither would any practicing Catholic I know.
Pope Benedict XVI you are now with Lord Jesus….please pray for us…
Cultural Marxist and Zionist Hasbara propaganda
The time for ending the statehood of Vatican City is way past overdue
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

Rest in eternal Peace Lovely Pope Emeritus Brnedict VI
Pope Benedict was an intellectual and academician per excellence
i ain't religious but Pope Benedict actually tried to hold on a bit to the origins of the religion ; some might call it too conservative or Old way of thinking ; but that is what religion is you follow old teachings not add and change it however you want so that you don't loose followers R.I.P.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the gift of Pope Benedict to the Church. May he Rest In Peace.
RIP Pope Benedict.๐๏ธ
Saw him, when I accompanied my then 12+ years old son during the World Youth Day 2006, Sydney, AUSTRALIA, where Pope Benedict was there to bless the youth. It was indeed such a blessing from this gentle, diminutive Pope.
Then in 2007 visitorsโ papal audience, Vatican. Youโre in Godโs bosom now.

If he was in the Nazi youth did that make him a Nazi? If so he had a lot to answer for, however if he opposed the entire regime and just went along with it naively, then he wasn't a bad person. He was obviously profoundly spiritual and had a kind heart, but I am a bit wary of the fact he didn't stamp down on paedophilia in the catholic church, and also because of his connections to Nazism, makes me somewhat suspicious of him.
I could be wrong, and he probably felt tremendous guilt for what happened. We will never know now.
I like his conservative stance on Catholic Church. โก๏ธ
Good presentation and impartial analysis. Toll. B16 is certainly a future Doctor of the Church. A man who loved Christ & His Church. Lieber Papst Ratzinger, wir lieben Dich von ganzem Herzen!
RIP Pope Benedict, Vicar of Christ, defender of the True faith, humble servant of Christ our Lord.
May his great and beautiful soul rest in eternal peace with those of the saints and the loved ones. Faith and Love .. what a combination …
A silly narrow minded documentary, so predictably leftist, German. On the other hand, Pope BXVI was brilliant mind, a Mozart of theologians. He was a fair man, and wanted to be true to his calling. Itโs a pity he resigned. Even a feeble senile Razinger, lying in bed doing nothing at all, would have been better than what his resignation unleashed on the church. His work was undone in his own lifetime, and the great clarity he sought in all things, has now been muddied in the confusion encouraged by Pope Francis.
Oh, please, stop throwing rocks at glass houses that you all live in. It's ludicrous.
BENEDICT XVI,
BESIDES SO HIGHLY INTELLIGENT & EXCELLENT THEOLOGIAN, HE WAS INCREDIBLY IN LOVE WITH JESUS & MARY, AND UNDERSTOOD THE MAGNIFICENCE &SPLENDOR OF JESUS AND MARY SO PALPABLE FOR HIMโฆ
HE WAS IN LOVE WITH JESUS & MARY..
HE WENT STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN & INTO THE ARMS OF JESUS & MARYโฆ
Why did they dub English over an English speaking interviewee? ๐
Pope Benedict reacted to the Nazis in the same manner he did to the sexual abuse occurring in his archdiocese in Germany. He witnessed evil then said and did nothing to stop it. He fought for a murderous regime and looked the other way while priests under his leadership raped children.
He belonged to the red shoe Club…research it ….!!!!
For the suppressed truth about Benedict and his betrayal of the Catholic faith, see the Novus Ordo Watch site under "False Popes" and also see there under the "Issues" tab what happened at the 1958 papal conclave that led to the unprecedented revolution in the Church since the 1960s, and continue from there. It's a deep rabbit hole at the bottom of which one will find an infernal brood of vipers.
Great documentary–even-handed, opening with being in Germany a "Divisive" Cleric, a "Conservative." Nowadays, anyone who is not into the Woke/Modernist crapola engulfing this present Vatican, you are labeled as "divisive," and "Darth Vader." VERY UNFAIR.
Rest In Peace, our Pope Benedict.
