Shanks is a slave to the world government and It’s all because of Saint Figarland Garling, you see it all starts with the question of why Garling would bring Shanks to God Valley in the first place?. I mean we already know he ain’t dad of the year, but to bring your presumed only son to a place where he plans to kill many people, seems a bit shity even for him. This is where I got the idea of what if Shanks mother is also on this island and this Island is the island of his people. What if Shanks’ mother was some slave girl that Garling used, abused and tossed aside when he was finished. The more I think about it, the more it begins to make sense, because we’ve never seen a character in the story that has both the blood of a noble and the blood of a slave within them. This would be a character that fits perfectly between two worlds, not royal enough to be saint garlings son, and not common enough to be with the humans. He has no real home, but also kinda has access to both. This would also explain why it always appeared as though he’s working both sides, because he belongs to both sides. Like who knows his mother may still be alive and her captivity is why shanks have to play along to they’re tune.. This would mean no matter how powerful he becomes, he’s no different than an average slave.
