Rimworld Mod Rundown – Vanilla Races Expanded Saurid

In this video we ask the age old question, if you teach frost magic to a Saurid do you end up with a Blizzard Wizard Lizard?

  1. These guys always let out the most ragged death sounds 😂 I have a rough outlander union that happens to be these guys bringing chaos to the other factions.

I will definitely be giving the starting scenario a try. It sounds like a pretty fun challenge run! Great video, looking forward to the next!

  2. Saurid! YAY! My favorite VRE mod. As you said, this feels like just a bit of enhancement to the vanilla. As their first xenotype, this feels like they were dipping their toes into the Biotech update before really diving in and going wild. I'm not sure how much I like the tone of these ones — while the vanilla races feel like they were people who specifically optimized themselves for a biome or circumstance, these are a little… different. A little more extreme than just that. It isn't just hypothermia that you have to worry about, but heatstroke as well, as their cold blooded nature makes them sensitive to both. As even maps with a year-round growing season frequently have periods that will trigger their heatstroke, where were they ideally adapted to live? Those narrow bands where the temperature is good for them year-round don't exactly need much genetic adaptation to optimize, especially not at this extreme of a level. I've long felt that the "Vanilla X Expanded" moniker was a little misplaced, as many of the mods feel far more than just an expansion of something vanilla.

However, the Saurids are a staple of mine, in almost every run. Gotta have my D&D lizardfolk, after all. They're close enough to what's in the game that they work very well.
