Reacting to YOUR comments: "Malaysians too "lazy" to take public transport?" | DWIBAHASA

Awhile back we published a video talking about our experience with Malaysian public transport, and it became a hot topic of debate. What surprised us was how many of you were willing to share your stories and suggestions with us. In this video, we want to amplify some of the public’s concerns and hopefully use our platform to get your feedback out to those who can make a difference. Here are your stories.

  1. UPDATE: Subs are up!

Hey, Rory here. Regarding the OMNY system, it is a weekly pass thing not a monthly pass so I definitely remembered wrongly there 😅but the point stands. Also, subtitles will be uploaded tomorrow, so come back then if you need translation for the BM segments. Thank you again for leaving so many great comments, and for watching. Cheers!

  2. Thanks for doing this react video, it certainly gives more perspective to the main video that was previously uploaded:

Although, there is one comment that needs to be highlighted:

"Touch N Go still sucks for public transport" where a comment that says some people may not have enough balance in their TnG card when they want to take a bus or even train, and "nak cari tempat top up pun susah."

    1. Nak cari tempat top up? Kan senang kalau pergi ke Watsons, KK Mart, MyNews, 7Eleven, & all major petrol stations will have a TnG terminal on hand. It isn't a question of how susah nak cari, it all depends on the self initiative to monitor their TnG balance and do the proper research to look up for locations to top up their TnG card. Tapi bersangka baik, mungkin orang tu tak tinggal dekat dengan tempat2 yng ada TnG top up.

    2. Related comment, TnG doesn't really sucks for public transport cause it is still the preferred way to tap in and out, just like how the London Underground has their Oyster Card & Hong Kong MTR has their Octopus Card that can be used all across bus, rapid rail and commuter rail as a form of contactless payment.

    3. Speaking of contactless payment, that OMNY system looks cool where a commuter can use just use their credit or debit card to tap into the public transport network. RapidKL, I believe is currently doing a trial where selected stations will have this paywave device mounted on the Auto Fare Gates. If this is further adopted into mass application all across the rail network, it will alleviate the issue of people not having enough value in their TnG card.

What is the next common card after a TnG card? The ATM Bank Card ( everyone above the age of 18 should have this in their wallet ), which is also a Debit Card with PayWave function built in. Not enough balance in TnG card? No problem, just use a Debit or Credit Card and Paywave through the Auto Fare Gate.

  3. SimplyGo system in Singapore is great too, allowing for the use of any Visa/Mastercard debit or credit card to tap and pay for public transport rides, be it on your smartphone or wearable.
so Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, all sorts of pay, as long as u pay lol

  4. I realise that a lot of this talk regarding public transport is centred around West Malaysia and its own problems but here in East Malaysia we're still lacking that infrastructure to walk to a lot of places. We don't even have train systems to go around and gotta grab or drive. I really hope that maybe Kuching and Kota Kinabalu might have some LRT or MRT system someday.

Hell, our parkings don't even have TnG yet and we gotta pay that damn ticket physically queueing up behind people.

  5. Actually you can try providing subtitles in this Youtube video in both English and BM. I notice there is an auto generated English subtitles but that's not good for BM language. That will take care of the readers who only do sign language.

  6. Safe parking at MRT , LRT and commuter stations ???
Transport linking said stations to bus routes to all the Taman and suburbs in KL and Selangor ???
Coordination between said transport systems and frequency of transport ????
    Follow schedule ????
Public transport in Malaysia is not convenient nor user friendly .
Can be said a lot for the inconvenience of using public transport in Malaysia .

  7. I went to Singapore, early July, Their public transport system also uses paywave systems as well, which was so good. I didn't manage to topup my ezlink card and I just switch to my creditcard or bigpay card.

  8. Bros, im living in Sydney now. The public transport fare is charged upon exit so same like Malaysia. But they still have that automatic rewards system you mentioned capped at number of trips or total $ spent, should check it out
