Petitos vs Laundries Updates | Roberta Laundrie's Letter Exposed

On May 24th, 2023, three hearings in the Petitos vs Laundries lawsuits took place. They have sued the Laundries and Steven Bertolino for emotional distress caused by withholding critical information in the search for Gabby. The lawsuit alleges that Laundrie, his parents and their lawyer knew Gabby was dead at the time of a Sept. 14 statement Laundrie attorney Steve Bertolino released to the media, which reads, in part, “On behalf of the Laundrie family it is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is re-united with her family.” Gabby was reported missing on September 11th, 2021. Her remains were found in Spread Creek, Wyoming, on September 19th, 2021, where her and Brian had been camping. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma and manual strangulation. Brian Laundrie returned home without her, in her van, and lawyered up. He then “went missing” (on the run). His remains were found on October 21st, 2021 and his cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

One of the issues raised was about Roberta Laundrie’s letter penned to Brian “months before” (according to her) Brian and Gabby left for their road trip. We now have access to the letter and in all contexts, it’s a concern, no matter when Roberta says she wrote it. Let’s discuss it. The judge denied the motion for a protective order yesterday, which is why the letter has just been made public.

Steven Bertolino had filed a motion asking the judge to dismis the civil lawsuit that was brought against him by the Petitos. The outcome of this motion will be decided at a later date. Two out of four of the motions were ruled on by Judge Danielle Brewer. Judge Brewer denied the Petito and Schmidt family access to financial records after reviewing them page by page in the courtroom Wednesday, saying the records didn’t ‘comply’ with their request.

The jury trial has been pushed back to May 13th, 2024.

  3. Backstabbing? I wonder what that was about.

I agree on the timing of his briefly returning to Florida as a possibility for the letter. At the very least, we need more info on what happened then. It's too bad as well that the financial transaction from that time won't be brought in now. It is significant!

  4. @Grizzly True Crime, I believe it was written before they left and she knew what was going to happen and she knew she was going to be either spiritually away from him from the depth of the words in this letter and she thought he was going to jail. However, no matter how you look at it she knew. She basically is saying I will help you in any way you need even if you kill a person and I want you to know no matter how it turns out afterwards I will still take care of you if your in jail if they give you death no matter what we will always be together.

  5. Just started at the letter & my First thought of the crow, the birds will help remove her ?
Or bury deep enough so the circling birds don't help to discover her ??
    Speculating of course 🤔

  6. I think it was before the murder. Son complaining about Gabby's behavior. Like she makes me so mad I just want to hurt her. Seriously.

A letter like this is like a permission slip and a promise to protect him. Which she did.

    Definitely separation issues.🙄

  7. For all we know Gabby may have found the letter and maybe the argument they had was about it. And I would not be surprised if Roberta intended for Gabby to find it just sayin

  8. Thank you so much for covering this G. Your core values are a huge reason why your channel resonates with such a beautiful community. I have a son, and to me, writing a letter like this one would be like recanting all the morals and values we’ve tried to instil in him his entire life. Makes no sense. It’s like nobody will ever love you like a do, and that’s a manipulative and cruel think to say to your kids in my humble opinion.

  9. And saying if people love you it’s in their actions! So what, gabby didn’t love him? Hmmmmmm They both knew what he did and helped hide him.

  10. The fact that there is no mention of Gabby in this letter by Mrs. Laundrie to her son, no "have a nice trip" language suggests it was written "AFTER the (f)act" !

Bright red flags with how Roberta addressed the letter to brian Christopher laundrie..next a letter? Why not a text? Red flags are blowing🚩 the whole damn letter, the bright red flags blowing in our eyes! She has written it well but, but wow after we know what happened next. I bet dad didn't even know. Roberta is a jealous wild witch who killed her son she needs locking up probably in a clinic

  12. It’s a mental letter from a mental mom to her mental son. I do not think it is directly connected to what happened though. I think it shines a light on how unhealthy their family’s mental state was. That’s not how you talk to a kid and that’s not how you raise a kid, saying things like that. It’s enabling. It speaks to the level of help that Brian was never going to get and had never got for his issues. Cause she probably got the same ones! Makes me wonder what he already did that made her feel the need to write that. But I don’t think that it’s specific. “Helping to bury a body” is a pretty typical thing to say, in jest, as an exaggerated way of illustrating your loyalty to a buddy. So it’s not surprising to see in a weird ass letter like this. I just don’t see a direct connection that would point to this for sure being written after the fact. In no way am I attempting to defend either. They disgust me beyond belief. I can’t even put into words… Putting myself in their shoes… if my kid came home without their partner, in their partners vehicle and the partner is simply gone and their parents are blowing up my phone…. And I sit there and ignore it all? WTF??? Never on this earth would that ever happen. There is something very wrong with that family. Obviously. But, objectively, what’s in that letter doesn’t seem like something that’s a direct connection to the crime itself. Sorry to say.

  13. This letter is just plain creepy. I love my sons but, if I knew either had murdered someone I would expect them to be accountable for their actions. The letter makes my skin crawl for so many reasons. The content is disturbing and downright bizarre. To liken anything written to the content of the two picture story books is a far reach. WTAF. The fact that Bryan read the letter and actually kept it, is a whole new level of creepiness. No wonder Bryan had a warped sense of how a relationship should look, after glimpsing the relationship between him and his mum. Even if it can’t be proven whether she wrote this letter after Bryan killed Gabby, what she did to aid and abet him after the fact, and to treat Gabby’s parents with the level of callousness that she did, would be enough for me to find her guilty of anything and everything that can
be thrown at her. Despicable person.
