  1. The USS JOHNSTON DD-557 also fought this battle let by The Chief himself CDR Ernst Evans.
    An Japanese Officer was seen saluting the JOHNSTON as she sank, in respect to ferocity and tenacity of CDR Evan and his crew aboard the USS JOHNSTON DD-557.
