Knowing their fort is in danger of Indian attack, Lance takes a small group of army misfits to an abandoned nearby army fort to defend a mountain pass against the oncoming Indian assault. Their mission is to stall for time until reinforcements from another fort arrive. The men in this small group of malcontents, deserters, psychopaths and cowards all hate Capt. Lance and wish him dead. Much to their chagrin, the men recognize that Lance’s survival instincts, military knowledge and leadership are the only chance the group has of staying alive.
Reviews:
“…I saw this movie when it first came out in France, in my hometown, 54 years ago, I was nine, and today I still remember each black and white frame, especially the black ones, because it was so tense, scary, those sneaking attacks through that dark pass in the mountain, the two soldiers, prisoners forced to fight each other by their captors, the last battle with the uncovering of the wagon with the Gatling in it firing away, the last fight between Peck and the chief, and the Happy End which let me take back my breath. I haven’t seen it since then, and I don’t know if it would be a good idea to see it again today, it was such a fabulous moment for the kid I was.” Written by zatapatique on IMDb.com
“Gregory Peck and Gig Young are competing for the same girl and after Peck sends Young on a very dangerous mission, they blame him for his reasons. Feeling guilty, Peck goes on an almost impossible task of defending a fort, where they are outnumbered by the Indians. Peck chooses for this mission soldiers which he considers to be the scum of the earth and the actors that play these soldiers, Ward Bond, Lon Chaney Jr., Neville Brand among others, are excellent. The script is derived from a novel by Charles Marquis Warren who was a specialist in westerns, as a writer, director and producer. The idea of using this type of men as heroes inspired many films that came out later including “The Dirty Dozen” made in 1967.” Written by tmwest on IMDb.com

The old westerns were the best and Gregory peck was one of the best actors around
Western who was ahead of its own time. AWESOME
Another prime example in the reduction of the Indigenus population! Allegedly!
Los gringos esclavizaron a los negros mas de 200 años, le robaron la tierra a los apaches, le robaron territorio a México y han robado en todo el mundo, pero en sus películas son las victimas.
One of the Best "Vóice-Diction" on screne like Ch.Heston .Ed Bucanon.🤗😎stand-out 3
Such an enjoyable movie…..shud be compulsory watching for all those Net Flix guys !!
This plot couldn't be any more transparent
if you used Windex on it.
Had to watch it in bits and pieces but I finally got it done. Extremely well written, well executed, directed and acted. Not overpowered with fake computer generated music like today's Hollywood trash, music only where necessary. Not politically correct, but it is historically accurate in most ways.
I've watched Grjngo channel come up from the beginning, just thought I'd say thanks for all the uploads of some of the best movies of my youth. Your channel has been a labor of love, and it shows. Your dedication is what I've seen that makes businesses successful. 👍🙏😁 Well done!
The Genocides against the Indigenous Native Indians. The Real America.
Ah when men were real men, Indians and soldiers alike… Them cavalrymen, tough and rough all the way through !
Fine movie with great story. Thanks for upload.
Water ????? That's for Fish .😃😃
Great Western🤠👍

For me this is an above average western for the period, but that is still not saying much. Peck has one of the best bodies of work of any leading male star, but for me this has got to one of the worst movies he ever made. This is basically a not very fun ride B western that somehow managed to get a A list star.
Great movie with Gregory Peck in it. There is some romance too, but I am glad they didn't make a melodrama out of it. Thanks Grjngo. You guys are amazing. My friends keep complaining that I don't go out with them to party any more on Friday nights. I said, "Blame it all on Grjngo".
Lon Chaney Jr was such a convincing actor too

US/English invanded Indian Land and Australian Land kill and take over their land by force
Imdb rating: 6,5. A despised cavalry commander is unfairly blamed by his troop for the death of a popular officer and must redeem himself in front of his men during an Indian attack on the fort.
Have to wonder how they kept those lamps fueled and lite.
Quite Good, and quite odd story, but well done …
Ward Bond (Corporal) gets hit in the right shoulder with arrow, Captain pulls it out of left shoulder, those rotating arrows were dangerous weapons ;-))
Sem dúvida é um ótimo filme.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Didn’t know Peck did westerns!
"Suppose you found yourself in a dark alley one night with Captain Lance, what would you do?" "I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd sneak up behind him and I'd put up my hand and grab him by the throat and I'd whirl him around and I'd say, Captain, have you got a drink on you?" Such comic relief from a potentially violent situation!
Brilliant direction by Gordon Douglas. I am a die hard fan of Gregory Peck since I was 5 years old.
