Unfortunately, all the cats died.
I only know this from the noclip interview they did with one of the developers of Dwarf Fortress, which you should watch for more stories of this style.

Shocked Disco Elysium didn't get brought up somewhere in here. The NPCs and dialogue in that game are so fleshed out you forget you're not talking to a person. I've heard multiple accounts of players being surprised on the rare occurrence a character doesn't remember some contradiction or meaningless choice you made lol
