Nintendo NERFED Bagging in Wave 6… | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Bagging got nerfed in Wave 6! Is it still viable? Is it a good strategy? How does it compare to frontrunning?

How to get Better at Mario Kart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KADBlsfmIjQ

The final wave of the booster course pass just released, with new tracks, new shortcuts, and new characters. This is my first time using Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, Pauline, and Peachette online in worldwides. Playing on the courses Tour Rome Avanti, GCN DK Mountain, Wii Daisy Circuit, Piranha Plant Cove, Tour Madrid Drive, 3DS Rosalinaโ€™s Ice World, SNES Bowserโ€™s Castle 3, and Wii Rainbow Road.

Bagging: waiting near last place for good items (bullet bill, shock/lightning, star, golden mushroom, mushrooms) and using them to make a comeback. This lets you get to 10 coins and stay away from attack items, and you can potentially dodge the shock or do item smuggling.

  2. Am i the only one here who really isn't a big fan of Peachette's voice in this game? I understand they were trying to go for a combination of Peach's and Toadette's voice, but she neither sounds as elegant and sweet as Peach, nor as fun-loving and bubbly as Toadette. She just sounds…plain.

  3. So I basically found an exploit. You are always guaranteed good items if you release the accelerate button right before a single set. This does not work on double boxes. Rolling through it does not count as stopping or reversing, and the aforementioned method can be tested 10/10 times with a constant positive result. Along with the balance changes that effect item respawn time, bagging is basically a roll and go thing now, since you can't gamble items anymore after sitting on top of a box forever.

  4. 5:06 hi shortcat, I remember you said you use a GameCube controller but through the cannon it seem you you are using motion glider, are you just using a newer wireless GameCube controller with motion controls always turned on? or can you map it to c stick or something? thanks :3

  5. Out of curiosity, what are some of the tracks you should bag? I know of Cheese Land, GBA Mario Circuit, Dry Dry Desert, Riverside Park, Baby Park, Sunset Wilds, Rock Rock Mountain, Mario Circuit 3, Snow Land and Yoshi Circuit off the top of my head. Any other recommended ones?

  6. Maybe the change might even have buffed bagging, because since no one stays at one item set for a longer time anymore the distance between lower positions and first place is not as big anymore so you can catch up easier.

  7. I was a little disappointed that in your taking every shortcut video you did not actually take every shortcut you had available and was wondering if you would do a wave 6 iteration in the future with the new tracks and new funky kong mode! also the new cow mii costume, pipe frame and leaf tires is a super cute combo! These videos are seriously amazing and I cant wait for all the new content!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Hi shortcat! Did you know that you are my favorite youtube right now! I love watching your videos every night ๐Ÿ™‚

One thing I feel like you never really explained is how you're so good at motion glidering! You always have it on online so you don't have to pause and switch during matches but how do you do this, are your hands just very still!? or, you did say that you use a n64 controller and I assume that may not have motion controls, so then are you using the d-pad and a claw grip?

    Thanks for the video!

  9. Im happy it got nerfed fr
At my elo (10k so low elo it is super strong) and is not healthy for the game
I hate ppl that say it requires skill to take shortcuts when it isnt that hard to do that.. what is hard in shortcat or jpg videos is having the best lines and best driving of everyone. Bagging gives you the opportunity to correct mistakes

  10. Shortcat, the nerf to bagging mentions that if youโ€™re stopping or reversing then you donโ€™t get good items. What about if you drive along the line of items and collect them that way? Would that still work?
