  1. The issue I have, is that these guys are saying every unit is amazing… if you use your fate dice on them. But in practise, you'll only be able to use those fate dice on maybe half your units (at best) and only for one or two turns in a game. After that everything will be relying on their basic abilities, which are mostly not that great. The rerolls will help, but they're going to just get melted by bolters and flamers (and have no way to turn off overwatch).

  2. Honestly, Quinton might be the best thing that art of war has done for these. Very easy to follow and independent in his thinking, he makes the unit break downs less of a band wagon and more of an option list.

  3. All the indexes are pretty wild when it comes to internal balance, but this one is something else. It's like it was written by two totally different people who never communicated or even looked at the work of the other one.

  4. 10th Edition feels like I'm about to play someone else's janky list. Things I like are there, but a lot in the wrong spots. I honestly feel like we lost a ton of creative freedom this edition.

  6. If you put a unit in a firing deck transport, the weapon is considered to be equipped by the transport, so the death jester will not be able to apply that pick an ability rule to put on the shrieked cannon, makes it a lot less good in a boat

  7. My Day of The Dead Wraith army looks real good right now.

    Spiritseer

    20 Wraithblades

    2 Wave Serpents

    2 Wraithlords

    Wraithknight

All of this currently fits in 2000 points but they absolutely should not now.

  8. The difficulty with balancing Eldar is that they need to have unfair tricks to function as the ”low model count, low toughness, super high lethality and reliability”-army. But give them too many unfair tricks and they make the game unplayable, too few unfair tricks and they’re unplayable.

This index looks busted, sadly. I’m not sure I can run the Lone Operative Ranger Guy and his brick of rangers just due to the sheer uninteractability ruining the game for any opponent – like, at some point it’s bad table manners to show up with the units you like and that’s no fun for anyone.
To say nothing of the wraithknight pumping out upwards of 12-18 mortals per shooting activation… or the prevalence of indirect fire everywhere..

Let’s hope our toys get fixed such that they don’t play at the expense of the other toys 🙏

  9. Hey @Quinton – can you help me understand the Wraithguard’s “War Construct” ability again? Why would someone be able to charge in the opponent’s turn? Apologies, you lost me there! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  10. You know, it's kind of funny, I pointed out the wraithknight as a possible problem unit after we saw the profile for D-Cannon platforms. The fact that it is worse than expected is relatively horrifying.

  11. Not so hyped for the fact that I'll have to plan around 300pts of bodyguard units for our characters alone. Also hope aspect warrior points costs are adjusted to compensate for the staggering loss of output.

  12. Am I missing something or is a spiritseer terrible for joining wraithguard? Giving a unit with devastating wounds lethal hits? Auto wound means. No wound roll so no devastating rolls 🤷‍♂️.

  13. Isn't the easiest fix for the Fate Dice/Devastating Wounds interaction just to remove the ability to use Fate Dice for damage rolls?

I'm not even sure why GW introduced it when Eldar could never use Fate Dice for damage before.

But that way you at least couldn't just force high numbers of MWs, you'd still have to roll – since it's really the profiles with D6+ damage and Devastating Wounds that seem to be the main problem.

  14. There are some oddities in the codex. Autarch Skyrunners with fusion guns cannot melee, nor can storm guardians with flamers and fusion guns. Assault troops without melee weapons anyone. This codex has not been fully tested.

  16. They did this way back when they released 3rd edition, the paper codexes had almost nothing to do with most of the codexes as they released.

10th is second edition come again, except now all those insane forgeworld models and characters are tournament legal.

  17. I personally think that the Index is fine. Even having multiple Wraithknight's won't carry the army to victory. I want to have powerful units in the game that can do work. The main issue is that the Wraithknight is too cheap at 370pts. I think that the main weapons that it has need to have 'Devastating Wounds'. I'd love to see a bunch of melee Wraithknight's on the board. It needs to cost around 450pts. 600pts is far too expensive unless it gets buffed. I hope that GW do not nerf it. For the record; I don't even collect Eldar, and I find it awesome to see that the Wraithknight is finally powerful again.

  18. The falcon pulse laser is a complete miss. It's about twice as big as a bright lance, weaker and less AP. It should be between a bright lance and fire prism or have more shots or something. Seems like its something GW doesn't care to get right
