Hey listen up slap nuts!…lol….Crazy timing!! I'm currently been rewatching old NWA TNA lately and just watched Piper's debut…I would like to know what was up with Piper and that promo in that tv studio that had a ring setup… Was Piper trying to start a promotion or something I was confused with that follow up promo he did on Russo and still am all these years later rewatching it lol…seemed like nothing came about it the next weekly PPVs✌️

Piper had a simple premise that made sense. He told Russo that he had killed Owen Hart. This sounds ridiculous at first, but when you highlight several points then it makes more sense.
Roddy was against writers who had not been broken into the business properly from making key decisions that might put a wrestler in a dangerous position. And it did.
When Russo gave Owen the plan of coming into the ring from the rafters he believed he was doing Owen a favor.
And when Owen did not register any complaint it was a done deal.
But Roddy explained to Russo that Owen being a son of a promoter took the suggestion that he should do his ring entrance from the rafters as an order. And you do not refuse an order from the booker even if you have a deathly fear of heights and are extremely uncomfortable with the stunt.
Russo did not know this and thought that if Owen was uncomfortable with the idea he would tell him. Not knowing the code of never saying no to a booker.
Owen had just bought a new house and was nearing the end of his contract. There was still bad fallout from the screwjob a few years earlier and Owen did not want to rock the boat. And his big brother was not there to advise him.
A perfect storm for a tragedy.

Yeah seeing that live with Piper saying that about Owen and Russo coming out and not saying anything , me and my friends who watched every wednseday up to that point were like without saying anything we kept looking each other then at the tv , it was uncomfortable.

Owen is my all time fav wrestler, and Im no fan of Russo, but i always felt blaming Russo for Owens death was a low blow

I don't agree with Piper and I'm not saying it was right at all but this talk of Piper saying the Owen line for attention and to sell books is not entirely true. He genuinely faulted Russo and had said that for years after. They even had a public interview where he tells Russo why he felt that way. You can criticize him for being wrong but that's diff than saying it to sell books. No offense but TNA 2002 ain't selling books.
Vince Russo didn't know Roddy Piper was going to be there and went to the ring to try to stop him.
