The mighty fifth album journey began right after the release of Led Zeppelin IV in late 1971. A special recording at Island Studios set things in motion in the middle of expectations promoting Stairway To Heaven, Black Dog and Rock and Roll. A retrospective look including the βlostβ Australian Tour of 1972 and Robertβs first signs of losing his high range vocals. #ledzeppelin #jimmypage #robertplant #johnpauljones #documentary #johnbonham #classicrock

Those early embryonic versions of No Quarter are very interesting
epic man, this is incredible
I had all those albums
This is the first Zeppelin LP I heard (late 70βs)!! My mother had it in her collection of Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears & Beatles LPs. Never found out what song got her to buy it (probably Dβyer)βΊοΈ. Interesting stuff laid out by you again π Love how you added the βbeardβ shaving in the timeline!!!
Dude – who are you??? This is gold. Wow.
Born in the mid 60s I never had a favorite band per se.. but I did have every one of Led Zeppelinβs albums. Johnny winner was a big win with me also. But houses of the holy was an extra special album. There is something about it. It was so different than the previous releases. It was great for my friends and I it really was.
Remember, when Jimmy page did slide guitar in the Led Zeppelin songs? His technique was like no other and Iβm a big fan of slide guitar. Johnny winner, the Allman Brothers, but he had a unique style that almost sounded like something else not even a guitar I donβt know how he did it, but look back on his slide play itβs not normal technique.
My parents were at that Auckland concert. I grew up on Led Zep and Pink Floyd. In 1988 I saw Pink Floyd at that same stadium. Amazing.
I must assure you officer – there is nothing nefarious about our album cover -it is purely art and mysticism –
These children are merely there to juxtapose with the harshness of the rocks they are climbing naked πππππππππππππππ
Iβm sorry, houses of the holy was not progressive rock imo.
Just rock & roll music.
Asia, Yes & Rush were progressive in the early 80s .
I still love the documentariesπ
Your documentaries really pierce through the very thick enigmatic image of led zeppelin. I understand them as people far more after watching your docs. These are gonna be much cherished by zep fans for a long time, assuming they donβt get pulled down. Thanks
Awesome informative video! Thank you. Houses of the Holy is my favorite Zeppelin album. Itβs one of those that canβt be played loud enough. Reminds me of summer. First time I heard it was my brother playing it on his 8-track boom box.
Every song great , I was and am still hooked.
I LOVE the – Houses of the Holy 2014 Deluxe Edition.
No Quarter – minus the vocal is great. Specially near the end where to my shock I was able to here some more of Boham's drums that was buried under Plant's singing.
Another incredible Video!!!! As a lifelong ZEP fan and amateur musician it is a real treat to see all these amazing video clips of the mighty Zeppelin at the top of their game and recording and touring. And the fact that youβre not only a fan as well but an accomplished, educated musician really takes it to another level as far as how informative these videos are overall. Thank you soo much for this!! It was extremely enjoyable!!!
YES !!!!!! THESE ARE SO GOOD !!!!
Another amazing video!! Well done!
Yo esperando a ver si grabaron algo el 21 de Abril de 1972, el dΓa en que yo nacΓ π
You are doing a fantastic thing for young musicians. They have a credible resource for learning about this music, the right way. Any time a student or group is assigned Zep from here on, they need to watch your videos. They are credible, not bias, and give resourceful explanations in thoughtful and historical relevance. I mean we cannot go back to the past, but thank you so much again for doing this to provide good insight and music education for young musicians. Thank you!
So true, yet I never realized the similarity between the riffs on Mississippi Queen and No Quarter
Your sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Your documentaries are above and beyond what words can express.. very inspiring.
Hopefully, one day, you can dig deeper into your love of ELP- Brain Salad Surgery and Deep Purple-Made in Japan.
Rainsong is an amazing song. I was proud of myself and I learned it on guitar I just hate tuning down.
Brilliant stuff.
If you want to hear a tight band live.. listen to led Zeppelin in 1969 or Red Hot chili peppers in 1989.
Made in Japan ……………oh yeah. wb
70-73 are my four favorite consecutive Zep years.
"Open the glove compartment, I've got some drugs!"
you rule…this is the 1st zep cassette I bought in 1989 as a kid…over the hills and far away really caught my ear on the radio…then after I got the album the real fandom started…to this day
Dyer Maker is the worst zeppelin song
Bonham hated it and refused to play it
Robert was like a pitcher who lost his fastball , but learned how to pitch rather than throw…he kept it going without that blazing fastball…respect to him for that
I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into these, JCM. Just out of curiosity, does your Zep fandom ever wane?
π₯π₯π₯π₯
Thank you so much for this great installment…. brilliant work as usual.
My absolute favorite Led Zeppelin album.
Great job man!
My favorite Zep album. Excellent docs . thank you.
No way!!!! Triple thumbs up πππππ
I'm writing a fiction series on Zep, love to see this!

Not much is ever said about HOTH. This is a great documentary on a great album.
