  1. I don't get it at all. Seems like more stress worrying something could go wrong with the "technology" (😉) then worrying about a bum note or two. Just play your damn songs live!

  2. hear hear Ralph, that's very well put, and straight to the point, and yes we are the minority, and indeed bands/artists should inform about the use of backing tracks, but i don't see that anytime soon, specially with the biggest bands that are the most guilty of this 😕

  3. I can accept using backing tracks for things like ORCHESTRAL/string parts, but not for any instrument that's actually being used on the stage. Paul was DEFINITELY using backing tracks on his vocals (at least) as far back as 2012; I've got a soundboard of their show here back in 2012, and you can CLEARLY hear the volume of his voice jump A LOT between lyrics & stage banter – it's not even close.

  4. Ralph,
    You’ve NEVER been more wrong.
You think that KISS’ show is not live???
Nothing could be further from the truth.
    KISS’ show is 100% live!
Its just the music they’re playing that’s not.
But the ‘SHOW’ is live! 🤣🤣🤣
    Hahahaha Gotcha!!

  5. I can almost guarantee Mick is NOT playing, after watching all the videos so far, from the tour..I'm a guitarist and i play Motley songs..and his hands are ALL over the place on the neck..nowhere near actually playing….watch Mick play in the 90s, it's live…compared to now..you'll see the difference..bless Mick!

  6. Dr. Fukk you are one of the coolest dudes around. I have enjoyed your channel for a few years now. Your YouTube Channel Fans seem to be growing more and more. Thanks for your insights and awesome KISS Kommentary. Our generation is the last of the Radio and Vinyl Generation. Luckily, your videos will be around as long as Earth People don't nuke it back into the Cave Days like the previous inhabitants of this planet did. (You can learn about anything on YouTube!)
    Anyway, Schmackemagob Dr. Fukk! 🤘😎🤌

  7. There is (was?) a video of the Gene Simmons solo band where they play Charisma and Gene fucks up something before the guitar solo. Then they just stopped and Gene counted them in like "1, 2, 3, 4 solo go". It was so cool and funny. That's live for you. Wish KISS had ended sooner and we could have more of the Gene Simmons solo band.

  8. I agree. I am 48 and a musician who has been playing on stage for over 30 years. Part of being on stage is how you recover from mistakes. Nobodys perfect and to pretend you are is an insult to the audience

  9. I was in a band in the early 2000s that was a four piece band, singer, guitarist (me), bass, and drums. We were a hard rock band with electronic sounds, loops and keyboards. In order to have the songs sound like their studio versions we had to have those things prerecorded. The vocals, my guitars, bass and drums were all 100% live but we were playing along with the tracks containing those parts.Honestly it was pretty hard to perform this way because if our timing was off it could be a real train wreck. Because all the members were playing their parts live I never considered it or felt like we were unauthentic. We just couldn’t find a keyboard player…..Anyway interesting discussion, you rock dude!

  10. Look at Metallica, largest metal band to exist, Kirk just messed up on a song and had to restart so it happens. I agree with you on this motley Crue concert. They came in way too perfect after Nikki Sixx ‘s mess up. I’m not sure Nick or Vince have it in them anymore to play like they used to.

  11. When I saw Kiss he actually changed a couple lyrics of a few songs to be specific to the city I saw them perform in (Fortworth) namely "Detroit Rock City", so it didn't seem taped, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was

  12. Guns N Roses hired Melissa Reese just to add all the sound effects and enhancements and stuff that would be taped, so they can say the shows are completely live, because Reese does all the enhancements from her station on stage. I wish more bands would just use an approach like that,

  13. Not going to happen.
My dude and dudettes this is like being a kid and finding out wrestling is fake!
We all need to drop the bone.
All Arena bands use the technology of tracks. THE END . Now to what degree?
The longer they have been around the more they'll use the tracks for "Aid". Touring bands like Evanescence, that haven't been around anywhere near as long as KISS, have a rehearsal the day of the show with the town local Symphony, the band , AVN, their backing tracks and lighting crew.
I've done these shows countless times.
Backing tracks are often synced up to the AVN screens at many shows.
Until somebody writes a book after the band members of the band that currently work for pass>>>>
Start interviewing local sound crews and security at events if you want the truth to what they witness.
No artist trying to sell tickets is going to say it because a portion of the show still is live. Some more than others
It will still say APPEARING "live in concert" on the ticket. It's the world we live in. I hate change and getting old but
Again Everyone has to drop this bone

  14. Amen when I went and seen my recruit at the Bridgestone arena on their final LMAO tour it had to be live nobody would use a tape that sounds that bad they had spots of the show that were good but Vince Neil no way he could follow a tape he has to be showed where the stages I believe and ever since too fast for Love and shout at the devil they were the band the soundtrack of my teenage years I've seen the video I really couldn't tell either I'm with you they should put it on the ticket or just put holograms up there and not tell nobody

  15. Just had to add this I am 52 I believe you're a few years older we grow up when there would be four bands every weekend and most of them become a Legends and they all played live this phone I'm talking into and all this technology people say it's good for music no it isn't they can push a button and make anybody sound good kids today will never know the feeling and the seventies and eighties live band experiences sad man it's just sad

    Reply
  16. Well, There are not hardly any shows that are completly live anymore. Sad, but as long as people are willing to put out the just plain crazy Tickets prices, they will keep Touring and Touring.

  17. Well Doc if I ever experience this I will sue because it's not live but on the same token I can't listen to any new music at all except Godsmack and their not even new I think any music from the 90,s is listenable except Pantera Alice in Chains my band mates want me to play crap to me it is STP Pearl Jam Tool Soundgarden I'm sorry but this is crap to me I saw a video of Maynard playing Jinga at a show behind the drummer that just shows me singlehandly if he's got time for board games out of sight their music falls on the stable floor it sucks and I still refuse to learn 40-24-&-3 are enemy's I use Nascar numbers because Its funny to me

  18. I saw Kiss last month in Daytona and it was clear that Paul was using a track. It was still a fun show and there was 75 other bands there and II can say that 98% of them were playing live. Sadly alot of bands from the 80's are having this issue, just look at recent videos of Jon Bon Jovi sounding bad(which he has for years now). Using backing tracks are one thing, charging 200 dollars for a nosebleed seat to listen to what is basically a prerecorded show being mimed is another.

  19. Well, I think the thing to keep in mind about tracks & lip-syncing, is that concerts are still one of the few known places where you can't legally film without prior authorization from the artist. Therefore, it would be nearly impossible to prove anything in a court of law. That’s why Kiss doesn’t bother to put anything on the ticket.

  20. I saw the Rolling Stones the other week and they were unbelievable, especially Jagger at 78, who is still able to run around for 2 hrs. He sounded completely live to me but I do have doubts about Keith Richards. It looks like he has arthritis in his fingers to the point of them being deformed, I do question whether he can still play all the songs. But I agree, I want to a band live, and if it isn't…I'd like to know.

  21. On the other hand, we have Paul McCartney who can no longer sing as his feeble voice quivers and the band have to cover him, but the cheapest ticket sells for at least $300. I have a theory: people still attend despite the backing tracks not as much to hear them but to finally be at one of those shows before the artist dies or the band breaks up.

  22. I am with you brother! I want a real live show. I don't expect the live show to sound exactly like the studio albums. I don't mind certain mistakes as long as it is a real live show. You are right we are in the minority. Most people I know don't care if they are tapes. If Milli Vanalli came out today, their careers would have been ok since times have changed and most people don't care.

  24. Bands using backing tracks is the most despicable offense a band can ever commit! I'd much rather go to a show that sounds terrible over that phony crap! These "new age" fans that are okay and or oblivious to it are ruining the very spirit that rock n roll was founded on! I say to all those bands using tracks that if you are too ashamed to pull off a genuine live performance ,then Stay the F%%k Home!

  25. I'm confused Ralph. You say you love fake live albums yet you hate when bands use "enhancements" to make their live shows better. I'm not saying bands should use backing tapes etc. but some bands have to due to their age or whatever. Love your show. Stay well & greetings from sunny N. Ireland
