  1. The stuff in the dry shampoo that catches fire are the particles. Most dry shampoo are starch-based, and if you've ever heard about flour factory fires, you'll know aerated particles of starch are EXTREMELY flammable. The monat dry shampoo might not have any starch in it, which would make it less likely to catch fire. Or the stream is just so concentrated the starch can't catch fire.

  2. "When someone tells me how much time they spend on social media and they don't make a dime doing it🙄" umm I'm pretty sure most huns spend more time on social media than I do and they still don't make a dime😬

  3. I think the worst part is I'm so use to YL believing oils fix everything that I was numb to the funeral video. My brain went "yup, sounds about right. have a good day". Good point about mentioning using HER death, like it's a person not an 'event'.

  4. This first one makes my blood boil!!! When I lost my husband this would have been the Last thing I would have been thinking of!!! OH MY GOSH!! She needs to wash that JOY right out of her hair!!😡😡😡

  5. Also besides making your own claims to have a product that makes you immortal, throw god in there for good measure. They love to mention god. Be like “god called me to give this to you blah blah blah”

  6. And girl I been saying this. This is exactly why MLMs are cults. Or at least cult mentality. Once these people join their brains are rewired not only to hustle all the time but to also not care about boundaries and social norms. Like these people will just walk in your house uninvited or stuff like that. And they really do control your thinking and actions with toxic positivity

  7. Hi Hannah, beauty trainer/educator here. You’ll be surprised to know that many trainers actually use fruits like oranges and strawberry for cleanser and foundation demos because of the “indents” on the peel. They simulate the “human pores” so it’s good for quick demonstration for mini workshops/in-store demos as not all clients would want to remove their makeup or try the products directly on the skin. And generally most cleansers and cleansing brush would remove makeup as it exfoliates the surface layer of the skin, it’s a matter of how much surfactants (or emollients) are in there that expedite the process. Hope this helps! That aside, the first video just made me cringe. I had lost a loved one and one of her associates actually used her death to promote the MLM that she was unfortunately involved with. I will probably send you the story when i am ready to tell it one day. BTW, love binging your video! Can’t wait for the 160th!

  8. She was being very slick with her terminology. In addition to what you said she also called herself a “brand ambassador” which there are real jobs like that. My friend was one and she always had cool freebies for me. Anything from beer to toothpaste lol. This woman is just a HUN

  9. Sorry for all the comments but YES!! If you’re a legitimate salesperson you aren’t gonna wanna “teach” everyone to do it how you do it. You’d have your little trade secrets. It’s just like these YouTube scam ads where these guys are like “JUST BUY MY CLASS AND ILL TEACH YOU HOW TO GET RICH!” Yeah the way to get rich is to have a bunch of bogus self help guru videos.

  10. The Mary Kay demonstration reminds me of how ridiculous some Dove commercials are. They like to compare flowers to skin, etc. So annoying. The MLM isn't the only one doing ridiculous and misleading advertisement, but that doesn't make it any better. Products that range from blah to terrible, with predatory business practices? No thanks!

  11. Hello Hannah! I am a bit of a chemistry nerd so I went down a rabbit hole on googling Tetrafluoropropene (the propellent in the Monat dry shampoo) for you. For what I can see, and I might certainly be wrong, the chemical that is in the Monat dry shampoo is a very slightly different chemical to the one you were googling.

On the Monat website, it lists the product simply as Tetrafluoropropene, not specifying the exact chemical structure of the molecule. I'll do my very best not to bore you, but the long and short of it is that when talking about hydrocarbons, (that particular kind of molecule) a few different compounds can share the same basic name while still having differences to their structure. In this case, the two chemicals that are being mistaken for each other are 1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene and 2,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene, their only difference being the exact positioning of one of the fluorine atoms on either the first or second carbon atom.

In the video, I can see that you were on a link referring to 2,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene, which from I what I have found in my googling is more commonly used in cars as a refrigerant in air conditioners (don't ask me what that means, I'm still not sure). There has been some debate in whether or not it is flammable, but it is still currently being labelled as a flammable substance.

1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene on the other hand is most commonly used as a propellant and, from what I have read, is not flammable. This is most likely what Monat is putting in their dry shampoo. The power of moving one fluorine 🙂 (I'm sorry that I'm so excited about this, but I need to put my VCE chemistry knowledge to use somehow)

In conclusion, a very easy mistake to make and not your fault at all, the Monat website just doesn't specify the exact chemical.

Edit: Or maybe the Monat hun was just messing with the experiment to make herself look better, who knows honestly!

  12. Even without the propellant, most dry shampoo would still be pretty flammable, bc the main ingredients are a starch to absorb the oils, and alcohol to dry the mixture quickly so it can be combed out. Both are flammable, but you know what, I still keep them around the house for some reason…

  13. When the heck will I, or anyone I know, have their hair or apply dry shampoo so close to an OPEN FLAME?!??!! These people are beyond dumb. I really think they lost brain cells from using monat

(Also while typing monat my phone kept auto correcting it to monster! 🤣🤣 the mlm companies and the mlm huns are monsters at times)

  14. Do I think the strawberry thing is dumb? Yes.
Do I think the 'experiment' was just to show the products cleans? No.

I think it was intended to say 'oooo look how gentle and effective our scrubber is!'
I think the stawberry is meant to be a proxy for sensitive skin.

But I work for a firm incentivising R&D – it's legit my job find some merit in people's experiments

  15. I mean, MLM's are aware of the lies. AND encourage them. As they can always pull the "We had NO idea!" card.
Heck, other companies like Steam, Pat and other resellers pull the same. They encourage illegal content and for developers to lie. As: As long as it doesn't blow up on social media. They earn money from it. And IF it blows up, they'll play ignorant and argue that "We can't moderate ALL our content!".

I've had a steam moderator directly tell me to lie about a game's content. And use codewords to conceal that it goes against their ToS. Same with Pat, they just have automated bots that claim they "investigate" reports, and always comes back with "We found no issues.".

  16. About video 2, do these people know that in regions where pepper spray is illegal, such as Brazil until a few years ago, our defense was always carry an aerosol spray bottle and a lighter because anything goes wrong you have a mini flamethrower. Still, better than using just the flame is to use the product as "pepper spray", I always heard "buy the cheapest one, because usually, they have more alcohol", so yeah almost any of spray will be flammable, and an excellent improvised self-defense thing.

  17. 22:06 they sooooo know that this happens. I’ve been in doTerra. They know. The only reason they don’t put it on their website is fear of lawsuits. But the guides and books they (not just the upper huns, but also the company, the founders) push you to buy all make those claims. Even the courses they produced on oils (they have a certificate platform) tell you this.
