Matthias Vogt releases 10-track album Ten As One on Anjunadeep’s sister imprint Reflections.

Matthias Vogt’s production journey is unconventional to say the least. His early influences came from church, jazz band and Frankfurt’s underground, so his music is a sonic melting pot. Over his decades-long career, Vogt has released dozens of albums under various aliases, including Motorcitysoul and [re:jazz], but his eponymous Matthias Vogt project is where his passion for electronic music, club culture and deep listening intertwine.

The Ten As One album is one of exploration and collaboration. Vogt saw an opportunity to connect with some of his favourite artists, and teamed up with Johanna Klein, Hans Berg and Sato on several tracks. The result is a project that’s both collaborative and introspective, with each track bouncing back and forth between the artists until they landed on the perfect version.

More than anything, Ten As One was an inspiring creative experience for Vogt, and one that will continue to impact and influence his musical life. “For every collaboration on the album, I was really open to their influence and I see the tracks as a 50:50 effort,” Vogt says. “And it was a great experience for me – because the stuff they came back with was totally different to what I would have created by myself.”

The essence of the album is spilling into Vogt’s live repertoire, too. He has a handful of shows lined up with Klein, where he’ll fully embrace the freestyle energy and surrender to the music. He’ll be playing an ambient listening set at Anjunadeep’s London showcase in August, as well as solo shows across Germany, all while DJing night clubs too.
