Hey everyone recently we had an interview with Mac Walters one of the original creators of the og Mass Effect games and the former director. In this interview he talks about his involvement in the next mass effect game before he left BioWare and what he would’ve wanted for a Mass Effect Andromeda sequel. So let’s get right into it! #masseffect5 #masseffectnews #masseffect #bioware #ea #biowarenews #masseffectandromeda

No andromeda , just take us back to the Milky Way .
So, everyone hated Andromeda so let's see if they like a sequel? What are they, woke?
IMO Bioware is no longer capable of producing a quality and original AAA title. Calling ME:A a "phenomenal game" is a laugh. Even without all the bugs it was at best, a mediocre game with a boring story, slow gameplay and forgettable heroes and villains. And unlike other publishers with bad releases (for example Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky), Bioware abandons games that have bad releases instead of standing by them and doing what's necessary for the fans. For me, Bioware games are something I buy out of the bargain bin, not at release. All of you that are excited about ME5 better keep your anti depressants handy, you'll need them.
Agree with change of atmosphere and better characters (didn´t like Liam or Cora), but there should still be enough exploration like the first time on the Citadel in ME1.
Why does everyone keep calling it Mass Effect 5? If it's a direct sequel to Mass Effect 3, then it's Mass Effect 4.
If you ask me, Harbinger is the only villain in Mass Effect to not have a weak plot. Saren, like the Archon, is only seen less than a handful of times, and his boss fights are pretty weak. The Illusive Man was originally going to have an actual boss fight, but he either gets shot by Shepard or shoots himself. The Archon, while not exactly having the character development of Saren or Harbinger, is the only one with a challenging boss fight. Harbinger isn't fought, but he does have a great character arc.
The only character worth a damn was Vetra. All others were terribly unlikable, including rider.

Find this thing to stop this guy from killing everyone beacause he doesn't like you or your species
ME:A had some good points, but it took the fandom for granted. too many plot lines were left for the next game, sure that it'd come. As a result we had a lot of partial games meshed together, instead of a good game.
Also, the interface had problems (the power wheel) and the villains weren't too good. Plus, too much (at first glance) good guys (Angarans) vs Bad guys (Keth). Gone wre the nuances of Quarian x Geth or Krogan x Turians/ Salarians. It could've developed later, but again, taking fans for granted.
A pity. The basic concept and the interrupts were excellent and should be used again, as they were great improvements.
I want Bioware to just make Mass Effect 5 a massive update to Mass Effect Andromeda where it overhauls the whole game's story so that it takes place completely in the Andromeda galaxy with a crew that's from there as well as a main character, Bioware could have expanded on the Leviathan lore and said that when they were in charge of the Milky Way galaxy they had a split and some of them when to the Andromeda galaxy where they made the Remnant to help the races their advance themselves but the Leviathans in the Andromeda Galaxy miscalculated the Remnant's programming concluded that the Leviathans were holding the other races back so they took them out which started a cycle in the Andromeda galaxy to where if any race in the Andromeda galaxy get's too powerful and prevents another primitive race from advancing then they're taken out kind of like a mirror of what happens in the trilogy except the Remnant help primitive races advance but the main character's race discovers that if the Remnant keep doing what they're doing then the Andromeda Galaxy will run out of resources
Can't wait for Andromeda 2 that storyline is awesome!!!!!
Can't wait to learn more about those aliens that built all the stuff and that crap in outer space etc….
Had enough of the Milky Way storyline. Andromeda, needs to take top spot.
I would love an Andromeda 2 because there were some questions left by Andromeda's story I really wanted answers too. Just please arm the ship and ground vehicle this time. IMO in a setting like Mass Effect anyone who designs an unarmed deep space exploration vessel is either an idiot or they are deliberately sabotaging the design.
Gameplay wise Andromeda was easily my favorite in the series so far. As for bringing Shepard back I would rather Shep enjoy a peaceful retirement with their love interest and die of old age then bring them back actively though bringing Shep back in a mentor role would be ok. I think Shepard has more then earned a happy retirement by the end of 3.
With the premise of ME:A I was expecting something similar to Dragon Age Inquisition with multiple playable character race options instead of being locked into a human only character. The initiative was multi-racial. It was one of my hopes to be be able to play a Quarian engineer, Krogan battlemaster, Salarian infiltrator, Asari commando, or Turian soldier in addition to a human character. Perhaps that could have been addressed with a sequel, but I do not hold out much hope. The gameplay was good. The universe was at first interesting. The story… well, that needed more polish. Some of many missed opportunities with Andromeda along with possibly being hampered by not building on the already established platform and instead being mandated to convert to a platform not intended for RPGs.
Andromeda was trash why in the hell do they want to alienate the fans that wanted nothing to do with it, they want Shepard back and playing as Shepard especially given how badly they screwed up ME3 ending
I will stick with my concept until the end of times, what "killed Andromeda was…" Lack of new races, repetitive gameplay (revisiting the same planet many times), and the last lame decision was to kill all features DLC, they could fix the game and add what they din1't could in the main game.
My face is tired of BiowarEA. Just shut down already. An insult to the company I adored back in 1998.
Good interview, but you could tell that he was walking on egg shells. I take issue with how he was saying that Andromeda is "a phenomnal game". And if they were allowed to do a sequel, we would see the polish and yada yada…
Andromeda was a turd. It was a space game, set in the Mass Effect universe, yet it had none of the charm and intrigue of the trilogy. As you pointed out, the writing had that Marvel stank all over it. The protagonist was on the weak side, the Kett were a joke. The teammates, all lackluster to downright annoying. Can you honesly say that Andromeda is as good as ME1? I don't think you can.
As for Open world vs Linear, here's my take: I've played a good amount of open-world games (AC, DA: I, RDR2, Witcher 3, Fallout 3, etc.). And I geniunely believe that if your game is narrative-driven, linear will serve you better 9 times out of 10. You get to control the pacing, the timing of major story beats, etc. The trilogy executed on that perfectly. Never once did I feet like I'd wished it were open world. On the other hand, if your game focuses on the setting and gamepley, with the story taking the backseat (like in The Witcher 3), then going open-world makes total sense.
Thing is, the linear structure is a part of the Mass Effect identity. You could never replicate the feeling the trilogy gives out with an open-world structure, where the player is free to jerk around for 40 hours doing nothing but side quests. The next Mass Effect MUST go back to linear.
On a side note, I want to say that I had never felt like exploring a universe more than in Mass Effect. Which is weird, because I loved exploring the world in The Witcher 3 (the best open-world game as far as I'm concerned), but I desperately wanted to explore more of Mass Effect's universe. After mulling it over, I think that teasing exploration is more effective than actually offering the player the freedom to explore. You give the player just enough, but not too much, so it doesn't become uneventful. Does that make sense? I think it does.

Why andromeda is bad the original games were great
The kett were so bad it ruined any tension In the story. The remnant were actually a interesting design/mystery but always felt pushed to the side by the kett stuff which was just so weak
I’ll get andromeda and I’ll see if it’s good but I miss the original trilogy
