UK didn't charge anyone significant in the earlier tapping scandal. IMHO Rupert Murdoch should have gone to jail but all they did was force him to shut down one newspaper. He owns many others including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post in the US
Why why is Bethany Frankel going after tiktok when 50 cent had to deal with similar issues and ads using his pictures and he sued the person who posted his picture in the ads? Shouldn't Bethany be going after the person who put her image in the ads?
@Emily – Please cover the Daily Mail lawsuit by a group of people and delve into where the journalists crossed the line. That Charles hired a Daily Mail editor is suspicious and could that be where the press leaks ccame from? There was a Times article which said Rothermere met a royal to take H & M down in the press.
Wouldn't she be more successful if she sued the sweater company directly and not the platform? It just seems it would be easier to prove that the company stole the copyright than the platform. Is it because she would get more money from suing the platform?

Living in the UK and knowing that sometimes the press twists things for their own narrative. I would not be surprised if they have taken what has been discussed over a tapped call and twisted it/taken it to the exstream!

TikTok cannot delete her post (26:19) and then claim that they do not have authority to police other postings. Either they are publishers, or they are platforms.
I want to know. I have questions.
If the algo is guided exclusively by machine learning the types of videos that the user persistently clicks on, that is one thing. But if the algos are weighted by directives from meta head office to either promote or obscure certain types of videos then that is an editorial decision.
Does this mean Texas v Twitter is already filed and accepted at the Supreme Court? That would be great!
I would love if they killed the algorithms. I would love if platforms let me choose who I want to follow and showed me what they post, when they post it, then give me my own filters to view new content. And if they quit sequestering content I asked to be shown while shoving content I didn't ask for in front of my face. It would make social media so much better!

TikTok: Doesn't the EULA allow TT a non-exclusive license to any legal content that a user uploads to the platform? If TT later shares that licensed copy with another user, doesn't TT control that copy? The first user is free to republish the work else where, but they no longer control the copy they published to TT. Every content platform I've signed up for has this kind of language in their EULAs.
