The Against All Odds podcast is a true story of one man’s ride through the tainted world of horse racing – a world riddled with greed, corruption, celebrities, drugs, sex and the Mob.

Larry Rolla was a talented, respected trainer who invented new ways to fix aging and injured racehorses. Despite his success, his demons and his association with the Mob both helped and destroyed his life. He was involved with every phase of Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing, seen it all and done it all, learned how to duck and dive and live through it all. He is a unique man whose past most would not survive. More importantly, he was an extremely compassionate guy who took people with damaged lives and helped them as well, if he could. He liked fixing things that needed fixing.

  1. What do think the future would have been if you paid them off? Do you think it would have been just another day? These were guys who did not live the same code as you. What did you get for being stand-up? Almost nobody lives that code. Either way, you were screwed.

  4. I had to stop at the 3 minute mark to correct this liar: Ungar's parents did not both die when he was a kid, his mother lived till he was 26. He had no other family, so why would he have to support them after his father died? There was no one to support, he supported his mother. He NEVER LIVED IN HARLEM!!!!!!! He did not grow up there. So much is wrong in just the first 3 minutes.

Here's a thought, if you gave them.up and kept all of your "stuff" , would that have changed you? 🤔 or how would it have changed you?

  7. Stuey Ungar did not come from Harlem, he was from The Lower East Side. I met him back in the 70's, he was not a great gin player at age 10, that's. myth. He became the best in the 80's, no disputing it. The story about him and Spilatro is also fake, these guys are taking the story of Ungar running out of New York in the 1970's after getting jammed up and changing it to a Vegas story a decade later involving Spilatro. I guess getting Spilatro's name into a story will help him push his book. What a load of crap this video is.
