This episode of No Cap Room kicks off in Philadelphia, where Joel Embiid made waves after saying that he wants to win a championship but implied that he’d be willing to leave the 76ers to accomplish that goal.
Jake Fischer and Dan Devine discuss the James Harden stare down the Sixers are currently locked in and explain how that is effecting Embiid, as well as how Embiid is hanging over the Harden situation.
In the 2nd half of the episode, Jake and Dan each pick a “winner” amongst NBA teams that had a good offseason and explain why they feel that way. They then follow this formula and list off a couple of “loser” franchises that stood still this offseason, or maybe moved backwards, before listing a couple of “wild card” teams that they’re not sure what to make of yet.

What is Dan's obsession with the Raps not trading Lowry a year and a half ago? Morey wasn't giving up Maxey. Raptors ended up getting Precious Achiuwa on the sign and trade that summer, who turned out to be one of their best players in the second half of the 2021-2022 season, and instrumental in their only two wins over the Sixers in the 2022 playoffs, with Fred VanVleet injured and Scottie hobbling from Embiid stamping on his foot.
What was wrong with the Raptors last season? Precious had slow start, got hurt, was out for two months, and Nurse didn't trust him enough to give him enough minutes to find his rhythm again, especially after the trade for Poeltl. And Fred and Siakam didn't get along with the young guys. Right now, Masai Ujuri is seeing what direction the team is going to go in – run it back or development. It depends on what other teams are willing to give him for Siakam. If it's crap, like the offers I've heard, then we'll keep Siakam and move forward. Maybe try again at the deadline.
