Inside the Bears' new offense w/ Nate Tice + preseason debuts, Fields, Getsy & more | Hoge & Jahns

The Athletic’s Nate Tice was at Bears practice and has watched the tape of Justin Fields’ first preseason action. Why is he feeling “encouraged” by what he’s seen so far with Luke Getsy’s new Bears offense? Nate breaks down his thoughts from his camp visits and more Bears things with Adam Hoge and Adam Jahns after they bring your preseason debut voicemails to the air.

  1. Christ, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on MNF. I get to hear one guy make football less exciting than baseball or golf while the other guy compares everything he sees to either himself of the Cowboys. Yay. Fun way to make MNF bearable this year. Either take a shot every time Aikman mentions himself or mute the broadcast and put Spanish broadcast on audio. Speaking Spanish is not a requirement.

  2. With all due respect, the majority of these voicemails are delusional. This fan base makes my head hurt man. The amount of drastic overreactions and lack of comprehension of what the approach is to a preseason game is disgusting

  3. Braxton Jones (while he reps seemed a bit shortened than I would have liked) looked solid, seems like he'll be starting LT Week 1. Sharpe probably earned some significant Week 1 reps, Ebner looks like he should get more touches than Herbert and will slide in at 2 behind Monty. Brisker is just really good at football (great analysis, I know), that simple. Dominique Robinson impressed me, thought it was interesting that Larry Borom was everywhere and played into the 3rd, and easily the thing that I noticed the most is that it felt like the team was playing at a different energy level. Guys looked faster, hustling to the line (noticeable on the Sharpe catch, tv guys couldnt even show the replay they got the next play off so quick), I feel like there was an obvious Matt Eberflus effect and it showed in week 1 of the preseason. Excited to see how things continue to grow

  4. Going into this year I have been predicting the Vikings winning the NFC North, I expect the Packers to have a slower start to the year because of the things Nate described – still think they finish strong and win 10 games but I fully expect the Vikings to win 12-13 games. People forget how many games they lost by a singular possession last year, and Mike Zimmer was holding them back. Kevin O'Connell is also primed for Coach of the Year.

  5. Double-check the Packers’ schedule… if I see it correctly, they have THREE home games in the first NINE weeks. Yes, I wrote that: 3 home games, 6 away games in the first 9 weeks, including a trip to London. BRU.TAL.
