  1. When you kick that ladder for the first time and save so much time without needing a new safe zone is when you realize where all the dark souls level design praise is all about 👏

  2. get a ranged weapon and a buncha ammo and snipe off the dragon’s tail. i promise it’s worth it. ✌️😎 remember, most big enemies w/ tails can have said tail removed.

  3. When you beat Dark Souls, I highly recommend the (somewhat controversial sequel) Dark Souls 2. Despite what some will say, the sequel is definitely worth playing and has some really cool mechanics not present in Dark Souls 3.

  4. Firelink’s gives 10 flasks cause it’s kindled once already. u can kindle all bonfires up to 20 flasks.
to kindle: “use” 1 humanity to make yourself human. from there you can throw additional humanity into said bonfire. each kindling is +5 flasks.
also on humanity, how many u have effects item discovery up to 10. you can have up to 99 on gauge, but, it stops contributing to item discovery at 10.

  5. You can actually kill that big red bridge dragon. I don't recommend it though because you get little reward and he has many moves which can one-shot you regardless of how strong you are. Bonus tip if you want it. Try attacking the tails of dragon-looking enemies. You can get some cool stuff from doing that, even though it can be difficult. Remember though, watch your step and persevere, you'll get through it eventually.
EDIT: Should mention as well. You might find hackers across your journey who'll curse and infect you. Those guys aren't fun. To cure being cursed go to the ghost town and find a red guy on top of one of the houses, he'll take your humanity to cure you. You'll have to use it first though for him to accept it. To cure the worm infection you'll have to kill these egg guys that show up later on in the game. They'll drop the acorn item that cures the infection.
I hope my info helps you with your first playthrough and I hope I didn't spoil too much for you.

  6. Prior to the bell gargoyle fight, if you reverse hollowing at a bonfire (uses humanity at the top left) it will give you a number of benefits, the one relevant in this situation is the ability to summon npcs to help you in boss fights. Right before the boss door for the bell gargoyles you will see a sign on the ground that will allow you to summon solaire ( I think). This will ONLY WORK if you aren’t hollow. Also, the reason you have 10 flasks is because the bonfire in firelink is “kindled”. You can kindle bonfires, using 1 humanity, as long as you are not hollow. Idk how my clear my explanation is, but I hope it may be helpful. Cheers 🙂

  7. the souls items are basically a container of souls, the bigger it is the more souls you will get when you use it, use it whenever you are close to LVL UP or to LVL up in general

  8. 2:00 It's the classic Dark Souls level design… it is really awesome when that happens… well I say Dark Souls level design but other games did it before it…
edit: I would suggest reading item descriptions to learn more about the use of each item and its lore
also the number you are looking at is not the shield's capability to block but its damage, it does feel like it should but it is not

  9. Also with the tower shield it actually blocks 100% physical you have to open the menu up a little more to see that, the 80 is it’s attack strength should you hit someone with it

  10. I think summoning for bosses is perfectly acceptable, but I think it’s something that shouldn’t be abused and only used if you feel you are really, really stuck and just want to move on. It makes bosses considerably easier, which can be an incredibly useful tool for new players, but that is the reason why I think it should be left as a last resort if nothing else works and you find yourself banging your head against a wall. If you cross every fog gate with a summon in tow, a large part of the game is made a joke and part of its appeal is gone.

  11. 1)That stat isn't the damage the shield does not the blocking. If you press Y you'll be able to check the different damage sources that shield blocks. Generally 100% physical shields are the best.
    2) If you're below 30% equip load you'll fast roll which gives you optimal i-frames and rolling distance. It'll be less forgiving but in the long run I think armor holds players back and that play style is actually more challenging. My level 5 knight with all upgraded armor but medium rolling is more challenging than sl1 fast rolling.
    3) The balder knights can parry you with their target shields. You can parry with the shield equipped and pressing L2. I wouldn't recommend spending time trying to get good at it at this stage since only some enemies can be parried and it's unforgiving to miss.

  12. Welcome back to Dark souls tips!
-keys are scattered everywhere! Open the item menu’s key item tab and read the description for a hint to where it leads
-upgrading weapons greatly increases damage and can even increase weapon scaling
-you can go virtually anywhere through firelink and the master key but if it gets too hard don’t be afraid to flee
-baldur knights (orange capes) can rarely drop an S scaling dexterity weapon if that’s your fancy
-there’s a guy in a cage in the church, he’s a bit sussy and a simp
-the poofier the mustache the bolder
-miracles can be attuned at the bonfires and can be cast with talisman, it scales off faith and you get more slots with attunement

  13. The moment when you trigger the elevator and go back to Firelink Shrine, that's the best feeling and the highlight in the Dark Souls experience. This kind of interconnectedness was never again used in another From Software game.

Go back home, i.e. Firelink Shrine. Explore the little area next to the bonfire. There's some stairs. Also, talk again with the Creatfallen Warrions, exhaust his dialogue. And do it again next time you're there (and do the same with every NPC). Your actions through the game cause the have new dialogue, sometimes.

  14. Im really enjoying this playthrough so far so I thought I'd leave 2 tips for you although the second one is only a recommendation. :]

The number to the far left for your shield isn't the amount of damage it blocks, it's the amount of damage it does. The block % and stability is on the right. Only shown when looking into the shields details in the menus

Also I'd highly recommend using the Zweihander, its 2 handed RT is an absolute monster and will stagger almost anything (excluding 1 or 2 bosses) I used it in a strength build but it'll really shine in a strength focused quality build.
