We loved it for songs mainly and Aishwaryaโa beauty ๐. Rewatch value is very min.
It's actually Hungary (Budapest), not Italy.
The movie is eerily similar to ( and per a lot of people based on ) the bengali novel called "Na Hanyate" by Maitreyi Devi. It's based on true events between Maitreyi Devi and her father's romanian student Mircea Eliade.
Mircea wrote his version of things in Romanian and later translated to French called "La Nuit Bengali". Maitreyi then wrote and published her version of events. There is a 1988 movie called Bengali Nights starring Hugh Grant and Supriya Pathak , along with Soumitrya Chatterjee, Shabana Azmi and John Hurt.
You guys wont get a lot of stuff in there…. I mean unacceptable for you but its cultural.

This movie was deffo a product of itโs time as some of the abuse was a bit more acceptable in the late 90โs.
