  1. A friend of mine was fired because she didn't agree with the company stance on a certain subject, she sued them for first amendment rights violations, they lost so badly the went bankrupt, they're still in business but less than a third of what they'd once had.

  2. There was a small restaurant near my small home town I would stop at regularly for lunch, but the manager there was a terror, many complaints were lodged by customers but the owner was old and just couldn't be bothered. Then one day I saw him berating, and putting hands on a young waitress, that was my breaking point, I stood up, and bellowed at him. One more hand on that child, and I break something you don't want broken. he made the biggest mistake of his life, he charged me. Like a bull, he charged me. Side step, grab collar, spin, sink left hand into fleshy part of lard laden gut, exit all wind. He was so used to being a big bully, he seemed to forget, there are people who don't fold to a threat of violence, but will return said action with greater violence. Needless to say I'm one of those people, the owner finally fired the fool, and the new manager was so much better the business expanded, 5 years later she bought the place, and today she has three fine restaurants around the area. Lesson: Don't just put up with bullies. Stand up to them as 99% of bullies are cowards, and will back down.

  3. 3rd story: It always bothers me to read where someone puts up w/ horrible abuse for long periods of time. Yes, boss is an a-hole and should face a variety of consequences, but unless there are extraordinary circumstances there comes a time when it gets hard to hold only the crappy employer at fault. Like, come on – you don't have to stand up for yourself, but . . . why do you keep on going in to such a hellhole? Just stop – as OP finally did, but why put up with the abuse for so long. First time it's – no, I'm done..

  4. I had to have an emergency dental appointment during Covid. A simple shattered molar/filling turned into a six-hour tooth extraction and a bridge. They stayed long past closing. Such good people and dental providers. Me not being a Karen also helped.

  5. The injured ankle is a work place injury. There are serious state laws regarding it. All you have to do is get evidence of boss' disregard for your injury either in writing or recording and you'll get compensated. And if all goes well the establishment investigated for worker abuse. Lunch breaks are a law too.

  6. Don’t really agree with what OP 1 did. Especially since the dental concern could have been something serious or turned serious over night.

Sure the mom shouldn’t have been rude, but she’s probably been dealing with the kid being a nuisance due to being in pain. Probably didn’t want to have to deal with OP presumably being an ass about “procedure”.
