Rats, mice, insects, and even larger mammals in survival scenarios. These are the enemy! They can destroy, eat, and contaminate all your long shelf life food stores. What can you do about it? Several things, it turns out.
First I cover packaging and then we talk about other methods and then even how to keep your grown farm & garden food away from pests.

We’ve always had Muscovy ducks for our garden. They’re Russian so they’ve got more in common with a hawk than an actual duck but they are great for pest control. Insects, mice slugs it don’t matter it’s all food and it’s always entertaining to watch them waddle around the garden every morning for breakfast.
Just have to make sure you get a pure bred and not something mixed or they will start also eating the plants as well.
The water barrel traps with a spin rod seem to work well for mice to get caught and drown in.
Free food!
haha
Always important to think about proper storage!
I know a lot of old cabins used cedar to keep bugs out, where it was available.
I'm going to try the borax & sugar for fire ants. For some reason, they are EVERYWHERE!
