We’re destroying our environment at an alarming rate. But it doesn’t need to be this way. Our new channel Planet A explores the shift towards an eco-friendly world — and challenges our ideas about what dealing with climate change means. We look at the big and the small: What we can do and how the system needs to change. Every Friday we’ll take a truly global look at how to get us out of this mess.

What do you think, how well did Europe respond to the energy crisis?
Also Germany .. returning to coal.
The greenest energy is nuclear, good that Poland, Finland and the Netherlands are about to build new reactors, unfortunately countries like Germany continue to insist on coal.
Ha ha. Germany, foggy winter day in February with no wind and no sun. No electricity from solars, wind or nuclear. Pure fosill nightmare and begging France, Belgium and Czechia for their clean electricity from their nuclear powerplants. And russian oil and gas transferred to Europe via Kazakhstan and Marocco.
green faster what a joke
increase on coal usage on nato country
use more coal to produce green electricity 🙂
I take it his task is to control your energy supply quicker
Europeans are very intelligent people they should stay away from America policies they can live a better life on their own ❤
so will the electricity price back to normal? also the price for the heater (gas)?
Nuclear are the best option for toi make fast green europe
And one by one the west's banks crumbled. Germany's top banks are already in bad shape. The economic dominos will hurt Europe's companies, citizens. That would be the consequences if this war goes longer.
i've liked the part about the wind turbine permit in germany, it was even more impressive then how i was suprise by tesla showing their factory permit wich is in germany too.
It would be interesting to have video made solely on the permit in germany and in other country in europe.
Also their were few enviromental group opposing Tesla factory, who are they, have they always been there and blocking every industry plant in the past. Was there a pro german car maker fear of competition force driving those groupe, or it's the same when Mercedes build a factory?
We forget here that LNG can be used to switch trucks away from Diesel, and also LNG produces 40 percent less CO2 than natural gas piped to Europe. Gas is the best option to be phased out last. Coal and oil need to go first gas next.
08:17 That’s hot
Green that's funny. Solar and wind are not green. They create a ton of toxic materials in their production processes. Not to mention batteries are even more toxic. But I guess it of sight out is mind huh? As long as you don't have to experience the pollution you don't care.
good job
mild winter i Sweden yeah right!
Maybe it's time for the world (entire) to recognize that we can't afford letting narcissist power maniacs trick their way into power. Democracy shall be our common goal, but we must stop being naive and instead organize efficient vetting systems against sneaky enemies of democracy.
Thank you vlad, total chad move
god the lip smacking and wet mouth noises made this unwatchable
Thank you Putin, Once Europe and the rest of the World move on with green energy your fossil fuels will become worthless.
That is not how logic works, your title can be easily be switched around. Europe only could have been bothered because they didn't have a choice. This item is weak.
oh, we get it, it's spring
also since everyone seems to be in the sharing mood: switched my I9 computer for an odroid SBC. Works great, don't watch videos without it anymore.
You either don't want to address it or completely ignore it, but the big winner is CHINA! WHo builds most of the solar PV modules? Who manufactures most of the components of the glorified EV batteries? And the electric motors? Are we going to push the green agenda who will favor the most China? The country that allowed a virus to escape and kill millions without punishment? Europe is in decadence, even worse than the US, they are more worried about importing millions of africans than building high-technology, just look at the Universities in STEM fields, all full of asians. That's why Japan, SK and China and, overall Asia, are on top.
EU is very Rich. They must spend money to build Green energy, instead they pollute the world at cheap rate . good now they r trying something
Today a 50 year old social movement celebrates victory: Germany is switching off the last three nuclear plants.
With cheap russian gas it was easy, now it means we have huge balls!!!
Europe is building holding facilities so America, with the largest natural gas fields on the planet can supply nat gas. Green will take decades to develop.
The title should be "How Germany made Russia invade Ukraine faster".
I'm writing this on the day that Germany closes the final three of its nuclear power plants. Germany's irrational and scientifically illiterate opposition to nuclear power has for years enabled Putin's Russia to build up economic power and political leverage, which it finally used to invade Ukraine last year. If it had not been for Germany's "Atomausstieg", the war against Ukraine would probably not have happened.
The two most corupt countries in Europe are going head to head with huge loss of life, all the westetn arms factorys are gearing up for full munitions production.
WHY! If I let my imagination run wild. I would say that someone has manipulated the protaginests to fight this war to force countries in Europe to force more green policies into law.
The worry is after the corporate clowns transfered the industrial might of the West to the East and now they are returning , what is the future of this Earth.
Are we beening prepared for another world war
Biogas, biogas, biogas
I like how everyone ignored about to make "green energy" equipments and manufacturing them still need fossil energy LOL
Improtant fact to mentione is that those new LNG terminals are "Hydrogen ready" which can be used in a future to implement Europe "Hydrogen economy", so it does not mean that it will push EU to use more hydrocarbons in the future
Even Ukraine is still buying Russian petrol to this day
You know, clouds and their silver linings. I wish more ukraines happen so that transition to greener future is accelerated.
Europe still using Russia Gas, Glory to Putin
Great video! But one thing I don't understand is why the exit from nuclear is portrayed as a bad thing in the context of cutting off dependency from Russia (3:23). The nuclear power sector is largely in the hands of Rosatom – a Russian company controlled by the government – and other countries in the sphere of Russian political influence (like Kazakhstan). Exiting nuclear therefore is also a way of getting further independent from the Kremlin.
Short term its a huge problem, long term its a great opportunity
Bro emission dropped bcz we used less energy and countless industrial plants closed. Not because of renewables
They could have done that for decades. Thank you "free market" and "lobbying"!
You said they did it while continuing to grow their economy, and yet also, near the end, you finally admit that they scaled back production of heavy industries, which is the heart of the German economy. You can't have it both ways.
"It tried to blackmail Europe with energy"
1 sentence later: "Europe slapped sanctions […] and suddenly it found itself in the middle of a devastating energy crisis"
Quite contradictory.
Also, i found something to tamper this final idea: yes, after the war, Putin made Europe go green faster.
But before the war and for decades, Russia also invested massively onto European ecologic NGOs to lobby against nuclear and promote gas, which is way more polluting. And in the country of Deutsche Welle, Germany, they just finished to phase out nuclear energy and reopened coal mines to fill the gap. So, one part of Europe gets greener, while another does the opposite. Does the math equal to a greener Europe in the grand realm of things, idk.
The dummest thing by the germans is clossing of the Nuclearpower stations
Good job to all European countries and leaders.
The real winner here is Chinese cheap solar and wind power materials 🤧
