Today my team and I attempt to complete the Garden of Salvation raid and acquire the Divinity trace rifle, however the majority of us have never done this raid before… It turns out some of us can’t grasp simple concepts and even Bungie decided to interrupt this one. Join us as we accidentally create the Garden of Griddy.

How NOT to Beat Garden of Salvation

Don’t worry this video has nothing to do with the recent divinity drama it’s just really funny timing. Though if you wanna know my thoughts on that, I’ll touch on it at the end. Regardless today my friends and I set out to complete garden of salvation and acquire divinity. However the majority of us have never actually completed it before. Now garden of salvation has a pretty bad reputation so I’d be curious to hear what you guys think of it, is it as bad as people say it is, or do you like it? Without further adue here is the garden of griddy, and man this one’s a trip.

Intro

So getting ready, we didn’t really know what to expect, like I said in the intro, I know a lot of people don’t like this raid so I was curious to see what our run would look like.

The first encounter introduces us to the Consecrated Mind, which no lie, looks really cool. This also introduces us to the infamous tether mechanic.
First encounter down let’s not forget about the divinity boxes. If you don’t know, in order to get divinity you must complete a series of tether puzzles within the raid, similar to solo dungeons this must be done in one sitting, doing this will award you with divinity upon completion.

Moving on to the 2nd encounter we were actually making pretty good time so far.

We started realizing that quicksilver storm is, really good and, apparently so did bungie.

On to the third encounter the consecrated mind. I actually remembered this encounter and was really looking forward to it.
To all of our surprise, Destiny servers had scheduled maintenance, this late into the raid. Which means that we would have to do the whole raid over again, puzzles and all.

For now, we figured we’d roll the dice and press on regardless even if just for the familiarity.

Though we knew it was coming, this still hurt. We waited for the servers to come back, and started the whole raid over again, don’t worry, I’m not gonna make you sit through all of that.

Okay back on track with only a couple more div puzzles and one more encounter to go, but little did we know the utter chaos that awaited us on this last puzzle.

With the final div puzzle done this left us with only the sanctified mind standing between us and our coveted reward, and I wish it was that easy

  1. the raid would have been one of my favourites if it wasn't so buggy, breaking tethers, motes despawning, cyclopes respawning as the first one dies… other than that… not a bad raid

  2. GoS is my favourite raid. Just got the seal recently and am really glad. I love the music, the aesthetics, I love the mechanics that are geometry and positioning-based so I really enjoy tethers too. I don't like motes as much, especially considering how laggy they are sometimes, but it's not a terrible mechanic by any means. Yes, people shit on the raid a lot, but to that I say, skill issue! I sweat, people just don't try to learn how the mechanics work and then start saying that they're bugged and janky and all. My problems with the raid lie in the second encounter, in which half of the time you just fart around doing literally nothing, and eyes in the third one also have quite a bit of downtime, too. Maybe they could add a twist or two to those. Otherwise, absolutely amazing experience, and one of my fav raids to sherpa, too (I have about 45 clears and 95 carries, so really looking forward to finally getting 100)
I'm glad you had fun with it!

  3. Garden is fine. The only annoying part is when me and my friends get a perfect 3man Speedrun. Then final boss dmg bugs and makes us 3pyase instead of a 2phase. Still my second fav lowman in the game after dsc

  4. I'm on the last part of the quest and have to run this raid to get it finished.
I've done one raid since starting as a destiny newbie a few months back…..I was not well liked lol not knowing how anything works makes people angry. Hopefully I can find a squad with patience to run this one yet together

  5. It's definitely not a bad raid. It's dripping with style and like any raid a lot of fun. It's just the weakest out of all the ones currently available in the game. That's why it gets a bum rep.

  6. I know this is unpopular but garden is one of my favorite raids. I still use the title “Enlightened” and one of my favorite weapons is the bow from the raid.

I think the first encounter is great, second one is boring and too easy now, third one is pretty fun on both teams, and final boss is fun if you have a good team but frustrating if you have bad teammates.

  7. I love garden. I feel the hate towards garden largely stems from it being a more mechanically challenging raid. Most of the raids the community has hated have been the raids that require everyone to be doing something at all times, which in my opinion makes a raid more fun. Raids like Crown and Spire fall into this category too, as they both required the entire team to be actively doing something by themselves. I feel like last wish would fall Into this category too if you couldn't cheese riven. The problem with the destiny community is if you don't have your own team and need to lfg. There is always that one guy who says "can I do add clear?" Because they don't want to actually do any work. Raids like garden don't allow that, and so it is an lfg nightmare. If you have your own group of friends who play like I do, Raids like garden and the others I mentioned are a lot of fun.

  8. I think garden is one of the best raids aesthetically but I ruined it for myself by taking 5 people through their first run to get divinity back when it first dropped

  9. While garden isn't good… it doesn't help that people think they understand it more than they do.
Ive seen tether chains go wrong because people aren't where they're supposed (far as fuck away)

  10. These kinds of raids are why I love doing sherpa runs. Melting through raids with experienced groups is all good and well, but having fun with less familiar players and giving them a long-lasting positive experience never gets old to me.

  11. That Last puzzle is so damn simple but it melts peoples brains the first time and its always hilarious. The tip is never try and take more than 2 new players there. 3 is the max unless you know they are somewhat smart. But with only 2 you make them 1 and 6 so they can just go to the first one from each end.
