  1. I would argue Alex Smith also kept a very talented Niners team back. Kaepernick had great potential but he wasn't learning the system and got exposed.

  2. Grant really is pathetic. He just can't quit Jimmy G. He'll be talking about him when both of them are in Nursing Homes. Garoppolo isn't a 49er anymore. Garoppolo doesn't have the 49er team around him. If there was an alternate Universe where both Purdy and Garoppolo could play the same game with the exact same players, then you could make a good comparison. As it is, when Purdy's career is finished and Garoppolo's career is finished, you MIGHT be able to make a comparison, but really – until Purdy wins a Super Bowl – according to San Fran fans and Grant – he's a "nothing". Enjoy the "Purdy" wins like you enjoyed the "Garoppolo" wins (and there were a lot of them!), but Grant is quick to turn on anyone that fails to get him a Super Bowl win (and Grant DESERVES ONE because ….. he's such an excellent … athlete?). Let Jimmy go, Grant. Let him go.

  3. I personally knew exactly what the Raiders were getting in Garoppolo. A very mediocre qb with below average arm strength. Great guy though. But we already had a good qb with great arm strength and McDoofus couldn't get rid of him fast enough.

  4. My issue with Jimmy, he never seemed to want to improve his game (deep throws, pocket awareness, anticipation) In 2019 he was the one being propped up by great players around him who stepped it up when they needed points.

  5. All those games Brock has won are nothing compared to what the 49ers could’ve done with Trey Lance & Josh Rosen. Just messing with you man. Jimmy G won some games. We’re seeing that Kyle only calls plays in which he KNOWs his QB can execute. So play calling for Trey Lance & Jimmy G reflect what Kyle thought of them. When Kyle had Matty Ice in Atlanta he had his foot on the gas every game in 2016.
Jimmy G only played well for like 2 games for the Pats when Brady was suspended for playing dirty with his balls. Then Jimmy promptly got hurt before having to do anything else but sitting on the bench the rest of 2016 & the asking for $20M in 2017.
The lesson here IMHO is that while we are fans criticize coaches for play calling, I most of those guys are way above our heads since they’ve done this for a living for a long time & avoid plays their QBs can’t handle well in practice.
