  1. I like to think the heresy was the emperor and the loyalist vs horus and perturabo, or even, only perturabo. Perturabo its the most dangerous primarch, he is a genius and cold blood killer, all his life he done everytihing without any emotion, only calculing the results of his actions.

  2. He is a daemon because the original Realms of Chaos books from the late 80s said he was. Those two rule and sourcebooks were the first to explain Chaos, the Horus Heresy etc. He was the first daemon primarch to be described in the lore, and one of the books (I can't remember which one) said there was a planet in the Eye of Terror where black stars shine in a white sky and inky black threads rain down on to an eldritch city (all very Lovecraftean) and at the centre of that city was a daemon whose name I can't remember, but that daemon was the transformed primarch Perturabo, leader of the Iron Warriors. This was before all the fluff about IW being cyborgs was invented, IMO was a pretty hokey idea, "Iron Warriors = metal men, so obviously they love robotics." Perdurabo was a ritual/fraternal name of the occultist Aleister Crowley, so I guess that was the reference they were going for originally. So, nice effort, but critical research fail mate, lol

  3. Personally, no I don't like perty is a daemon. He was always that one person among the traitors that you could point to and say that he has legit motivations and he did everything he did on his own because that's what he wanted to do. I liked having the one rationalish and logical character among a bunch of emotional mustache twirling villains.
But most of all, after reading all of the novels so far for horus heresy and 40k, I don't want to see the character of perterabo inevitably fall into this obvious trap of thinking you can apply order to chaos, because from everything we learn about chaos over the years, you simply can't do that. You can gain it's benefits without succumbing to its pitfalls and worship. And let's not forget you absolutely have to give to gain with chaos. That gene seed won't be the last thing they expect from him and it just seems like he is too intelligent not to realize all this. But most of all and I think most importantly, he is not someone to give up control of himself or anything he thinks of as his. Which as we know just isn't possible with chaos.
Thats not to say I don't think they will write it in a way that goes the direction you're saying, but I still don't like it. I feel like I'm balancing those lines you cited with novels worth of info about him and the scales don't balance. Again not to say you're not right, it seems you are. I just don't like it

  5. With Vashtor turning up, it'd be a real missed opportunity by GW not to have him and Perturabo be in some respects connected, the two feel like they share a lot of thematic elements.

  6. I like the idea that Perturabo is that good at siege warfare that not even a deamon could fully penetrate the defences of his mind as if he has trapped it between layers in his head.

  7. I’m kinda new to warhammer and with your last bit, I’m really curious at what retcons GW has done to characters and factions, or like the top 10 retcons/controversial changes to the lore. I think that’d be a cool video

  8. Can you do a video on the 40k novel death of integrity? It's about how some tech preist and space marines find a space hulk that's from the golden age and has an ai on it.

  9. I never understood why Dorn has so many fans, I understand liking the Imperial Fists but Dorn is just an arrogant, stubborn and insecure manchild who can never keep his shit together.
Granted I don't think Peter Turbo is much better in said regard.

I do think he's right and Turbo is the next chaos Primarch which will make things interesting. Its a toss up for me as to whether it's Khan or Russ for the next loyalist Primarch although I do have a wild theory on who is really coming back.

Bear with me here but in how many of the reasonably recent books or lore shorts have we been seeing with a whole lot of Sanguinius and with Mephiston crossing the river Primaris and the visions about the angel and Mephiston's role in the Legion I think it's hinting. Except I think he is coming back like how Angron is, as the Emperor's own avenging Angel.

  10. Hey, can anyone here help me understand the black library novel Horus Rising'. I'm stumped as to recognising if the false emperor of a planet sixty-three-nineteen is really him or a phony. Does the emperor sustain a mortal wound on the vengeful spirit or in a citadel.?

  11. For anyone wondering, it's because Daemon Prince Perturabo came before Primarch Perturabo.

In 1988, before the game's 2nd Edition, GW released the "Realm of Chaos" series. Two books introducing Chaos to Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy, fleshing out both setting and placing the influence of Chaos in it. These books took the early Horus Heresy and laid the foundation of what would become the largest conflict of 40k.

But at this time, whilst the idea of Space Marines Legion was there, GW hadn't yet come up with all 20 of them. Only the Black Legion, World Eater, Thousand Sons, Death Guard and Emperor's Children were fleshed out, to give each of the Chaos Gods their own force (Undivided, Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh).

However, Perturabo and the Iron Warriors are present in the first book (Slaves to Darkness) and are described as renegades in service of Chaos. At the time, he wasn't a Primarch, simply a Daemon Prince.

When 2nd Edition came around and 4 more Traitor Legions were added, GW used the name Perturabo and the Iron Warriors (probably because it sounded cool). Then, his character was fleshed out in the novels, creating the contradiction we have here.

  13. @weshammer why are there no female primarchs? Obviously there are female warriors who have proven to be just as bad ass if not moreso than space Marines, so why didnt the god emperor make any daughters?

  14. hmm i could easily believe Pertuabo would be just the sort of tactician to possess the demon , switch the whole role around , make his body the bait and the trap and use his iron certainty and will power to subdue the demon …… but then i`ve not delved overly far into the iron warriors

  15. Perturabo's armor being named "Logos" is significant.

In Stoic philosophy "Logos" is God. "The divine reason implicit in the cosmos, ordering it and giving it form and meaning; an active rational and spiritual principle that permeated all reality."

In some ways his armor is bringing order to him, defining and giving him meaning.

Perturabo's character is defined by the Latin word "Perturbable". Which means "to confuse, disturb."

Perturabo's actions are that of a logical man who is confused about why he was mistreated by his father and later his brothers. He did all he could do, only to be blanketed in unfairness by everyone.

Now he seeks justice, not revenge. In his mind he must become that which is order so all which was unfairly done to him will be made fair. Even if it's done by his own hands.

  16. As an iron warriors fan boy, I really hope they do justice to my boi peter turbo and dont just make him become a demon lord out of some dues ex machina. I honestly hope they retcon this in a way we have a primarch that chose heresy not to serve chaos but chose to rebel because screw you.

  17. He chose Chaos because that was the only way to go for him. Though that was the set path he would later on take, he would not be tempted by Chaos, but instead put two middle fingers up twords his enemies: one for Dorn and his Legion; and the imperium by extension and one for the Chaos gods and their demented subjects and servents; including his fallen brothers.

He had established himself as the best when it came to tactics and strategy, and in preparation for both the short and long term campaigns.

But most of all, he installed a discipline to be true to ones own self and not be influenced by those around them, to defeat the enemy they must know them and themselves so as to not be defeated so easily, and to learn form defeat and take the experience as a lesson to do better.
