2/13 UPDATE: Dashcam Video- https://youtu.be/XMzZVJRNQ48?si=b5-1f-8R1OoaBEfP
Condolences to the pilots families.
The pilot kept it cool until the end. He sought-out the most logical touch-down point for the aircraft, he did his job and the passengers were gifted continued life because of him.
Watching several videos, it appears the left wing made contact with the road before the plane veered to the right and making contact with the dound barrier wall.
Thank you for the well documented brief.CVR/FDR being at the rear should reveal more. Throttle ergonomic design and its associated Airworthiness historical issues might be at the heart of this tragedy. If so let us hope BD responds swiftly to corrective modifications across the concerned fleets and its variants.I hope there will be a lesson to be learn't from the blood of these brothers.May their souls rest in peace to our fellow Aviators.
Rip π cant imagine this type of professionalism until the very end.
Exit -105 Golden Gate City
RIP Ed, we will miss you Bob..ππ
crash site was a bit closer to the 105 exit
Excellent review. Thank you.
Would the median have been a better bet??
The fire would indicate they had fuel.
My condolences and respect to the crew
I saw the clip from behind the landing on the road and didn't think anyone could have survived. This clip from the oppesite end shows the 3 survivors running out. Heart breaks for the crew but what a relief to see survivors walk away.
Could they accidentally cut throttles while going with full flaps. It would have been to low for a restart.
Respectfully delivered my maanππππ¨π¦πΊπΈ
the pilots did a great job with what they had left to work with, saved their pax.the challenger is a very good aircraft if l had to guess it had to be fuel related.
I've got a question. There's hardly a week passing without Blancolirio reporting a GA incident. Are these statistics above average compared to the last three years?
Juan has a good point; it looks like fuel was on board because of the fire.
Plane a blaze, and passengers are still able to grab all their stuff!!
Sad that 2 people died and my sincere condolences to their families. One thing that concerns the FAA is possibly fuel contamination of DIS which is a diesel fuel additive used on diesel trucks sometimes confused with PRIST an aviation fuel Additive. Im sure they will find the cause.
Surprise surprise, the passengers still had time to grab their bags.
I wish I had the calmness a pilot has while in distress.
God rest their souls !
We all need to go over to the channel with Hoover. he always has a very intense, thorough and methodical explanation of why these things happen. Sitting and reading reports I can do on my own.
The pilot is my neighbors ex husband.
To lose both engines at same time.. Only 1 in 1000000000000 chance.. Unless its a bird strike.
Hello Juan thank you so much for this concise and accurate narrative of the events within this unfortunate and partially tragic occurrence.
My speculation on causes from least likely to most likely, in order:
1 Multiple bird strikes.
2 Fuel problems – low fuel, fuel transfer problem, fuel pump failure, fuel contamination, incomplete combustion due to inadequate fuel pressure from low fuel or any combination of above.
3 Complete shutdown of electrical system causing flameout of both engines. Far more common than most people realize, and more common on business jets than any other type of aircraft because their electrical systems are essentially miniaturized versions of the electrical systems found in bigger jets, reducing their reliability. My theory would indeed explain the extremely sudden loss of both engines without any significant warning beforehand…
One of my coworkers buddies was in the truck that got hit. I75 southbound was closed the whole weekend. Pretty crazy this happened.
I have worked on aircraft over 35 years. They ran out of fuel and/or selected the wrong tank or wrong engine for shutdown. Obviously, this is assuming no duel engine bird strikes⦠Shame.
