Hood vs Bismarck: The loss of the pride of the royal navy!

The battle between HMS Hood and Bismarck is legendary! being a major naval engagement during World War II. The Hood was a British battlecruiser, while the Bismarck was a German battleship.

The royal navy dispatched the Hood and the battleship Prince of Wales, to intercepted the Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen in the North Atlantic, seeking to prevent the German ships from attacking Allied convoys.

When, On May 24, 1941, a battle began with an intense exchange of gunfire. During the early stages of the engagement, a shell from the Bismarck struck the Hood’s magazine, causing a catastrophic explosion. The Hood sank within minutes, resulting in the loss of almost all of her crew, with only three survivors.

In response to the loss of the Hood, the British would send a large fleet to hunt the Bismarck down. Later sinking her on May 27, 1941.
