i like this game exactly for the reasons you mention and it's good to have a game like this in your arsenal. titanfall was like this destiny sort of–dont give me a story or 45 minutes of cutscenes, make me a gun for hire or some such who just gets dropped in to kill shit or conquer. the simplicity of that can be nice and the immediate gratification is dope.
like this game a lot definitely would play. and as you say if youre doing like COD or Madden on extreme difficulty or something all the time this is a nice refresh for your brain.
when you play a game without completing the tutorial:
This reminds me of COD. Just in space. Same spam shooting and quick movement.
Should maybe have done the tutorial or listened to the NPCs on the ship, you’d be a lot less confused xD

Well, you may want to take a bit of time to figure out the game before building an opinion, pal… You spent 5 minutes attacking the wrong buildings in the last base while your actual target was the building on fire behind you… You also have assets (bombs, orbital strikes) which you definitely should use more often as you have a fair supply of those. You need structure? Open your minimap and figure out your next objective, it's all marked down there. Just bear in mind that the longer you stay in the mission, the more enemies will swarm you and the tougher they will get, so deciding when to evac is a smart call.
Overall I feel your mixed opinion is mostly due to you not having taken the time to explore it – loadouts, mission types etc. There's no point in smashing the Quick Mission button in a game you barely installed and know nothing about, ESPECIALLY if you have never played the original Helldivers game, which for that matter leaves you even more 100% clueless. This game is not "cute" by any stretch of the imagination; it's a cinematic hoard game where you're an expendable piece of meat, which makes it both spectacular and hilarious – provided you know a tad what you're doing.
I got accustomed to more quality content from you, especially in your Breakpoint series, hence I'm somewhat disappointed in this amateurish test-drive of HD2 and I hope we'll see more educated gameplay soon in the line of what you use to provide.
