What people making these pokemon clone games need to start doing, instead of starting with pokemon and making changes until it's legally distinct, is start with an original creature capturing idea and make changes until it captures the feel of playing pokemon without being anyhting like playing pokemon.

Honestly, 3D doesn't look automatically better for me. It's not just nostalgia, it's a style by itself. I get that shooters and other kinds of games might benefit from the realism, as navigating and analyzing the environment is part of the challenge, but RPGs and other turn-based games can honestly have any style. Look at Slay the Spire and other stylized roguelites.
Damn already beating Pokémon by having moving things instead of a flash on the screen.
This game looks awesome, might give it a try myself.

been enjoying this game except for the fact that the demo was better in the perfect/shiny monster system, but oh well. hope you'll get to play more of this up to the end! the combat and monster designs are honestly solid imo
Its awesome to get EXP on a catch. i do not play the newer pokemon but the older ones had not that feature.
Look gamefreak is a small indie company, they cant afford things like creativity or graphics or anythng like that.
It isnt as if Pokemon is the number 1 franchise in this entire world and that this IP is the greatest cash cow of all time, pff , gamefreak cant afford any budget, of cos their game are gonna suffer.
Dont forget, they took 6 months to figure out trees in sword and shield!
