Exploring City 24, a combine-occupied city in what was once Geneva, Switzerland. Featuring narrow city streets, back-alley hideaways, and a large underground consumed by alien overgrowth.

21:38 "owo What's this?" I can't unhear this
Another well detailed map. It looks like a map made by the devs themselves. Sucks, most of these cities were originally scrapped because of the leaks. If they ever release HL3, it would be really cool if you could travel to these cities. It also shows that even if Gordon and the rebels get City 17 back, how small they've contributed to beating the combine completely. It woud be really cool to see the other cultural architectures merged with the combine technology.
Oh hell yeah! š
I love seeing you have fun with the maps you explore
Gives off huge Dishonored vibes
finish half life alyx!!!!! make it into a video :3
It's a nice map, but I feel like a lot of people overdo the combine, or maybe misunderstand the combine when they ham up the propaganda aesthetics. The combine aren't like Earth's historical ideologue dictators. They don't put up banners or slogans. They have a big TV screen where Breen can broadcast to people from, it's the bare minimum because why spend more effort on what is effectively cows.
A slaughterhouse doesn't have tons of fancy flags and banners for the cows to look at to try and make them feel better. We don't care how the cows feel, because we think of ourselves as superior to them, we aren't worried about the cows rebelling because we don't think they're capable of it. We also don't see them as any kind of threat, even if they could.
The way you put it at the start of the video, reminiscing about city 17 in half life 2 was perfect, the cattle analogy works so well. The combine see humans as just that. Nothing the combine integrate into the Earth has any consideration for humans, even devices like the ration dispensers are just simple alien machines. There's no slogans on them, no thought put toward making them look aesthetically pleasing, or even aesthetically intimidating, to the humans. They are completely indifferent. The combine just say "you get what you are given, and this is what we have for you. Deal with it.". They don't need to win hearts and minds. The people are miserable, and the combine don't care, they likely know they're miserable too. They just don't care what humans think or feel. They're just another tool, another resource to the combine.
The flags, the statues, all that stuff, it looks nice but it just doesn't feel combine to me. They just let the world rot, the streets decay, and put up fences to keep people where they want them. They don't need nor want to impress upon anyone.
Will you ever do a playthrough of all the Half-Life games on YouTube?
20:51 Was that an intentional pun?
33:02Ā
maybe that's why they keep power on there, for
suicide squadsmaintenance workers who have to work on the pipes.Edit: and probably a lot of other infrastructure that the Combine didn't want to bother rebuilding.
God my pc couldn't handle this map at all with 1 or less FPS
If I buy GMod, would I be able to play on maps like these freely and easily? How does it work?
Hey I have a map suggestion Iām not sure if you already done this map also it isnāt a horror map the maps name is rp_riverden
The complete lack of any subtlety on this map makes me cringe.
9:20 itās a different type of ladder, most ladders are really just a tool texture in hammer thatās applied over the ladder model. In the Half Life branch of source there is also an entity that can be used also to mount/dismount ladders at a set point. Most Gmod maps donāt use this but a fair chunk of them do. All Hl2 maps have these ladders.
Hm maybe the combine do belive in Idollatree
You really want your face to be on the screen perpetually, whether that implies a 24/7 live image, or merely just a static image of your face when you are not broadcasting a speech? I would advise against such action, for not only could it be perceived as tyrannical, but having your image plastered indefinitely upon the screen has a strong potential to yield undesired results which I have absolutely no doubt that you would much rather avoid completely.
I have never played the Half-Life games, but want to!
Does anyone know if they are on modern consoles or will I need an older console to play them…?
Hey librarian, do you have a list somewhere of your subscriptions of gmod stuff that u use on your videos ?I can't find especially the flashlight and the empty hand
"Also I just invented Discord, how cool is that?" lol peak content accidentally being able to make an in-game outro broadcast across the city. This map was well put together, I do wanna say also I've never mentioned it but I appreciate your hardcore dedication and continual praise for the source engine/gmod/half-life stuff. I myself never got into many valve games except my ridiculous 3000 hours on LFD2 haha and in my LONG time gaming, somewhere around 37 years I've few and far between had any fanaticism toward very many singular genre or games. I was hung up on Jak and daxter for awhile, always been a final fantasy fan but fairly casual, have played many franchises completely like gta/saints row/ assassin's creed and in the last 15 years played many MMOs but I can't say "I know this franchise inside and out" for much of anything so the in-depth info you bring to this map or that is interesting to me everytime.
i love when the librarian plays half life maps because there's always a point where the shaggy rogers in my brain goes, "i dont know about you scoob but i think this guy might hate the government!" (this is a postive statement ā„)
Best gmod video ending ever
"I now introduce AnarchoLiberianism, under this new regime you can do what ever you want – aslong that I benefit" spoken like a true leader
the underground does look like something from half life alyx
The underwater bit is, in fact, still funny. š
And I fully support Anarcho-Librarianism.
I highly suggest trying out āAtmospheric Houseā on the Steam Workshop. Itās much but itās really something
should explore more stuff around valves game series. valve in themselves to a great job.
I love how it cut from you in the "throne room" from you walking into an elevator with a revolver, where you just start boogying. As if you just assassinated the local overseer and were celebrating in the elevator moments later
… Honestly.
It's 2:34 AM. My neighbors are trying to sleep and the walls are thin.
The ending was so genuinely good, funny, clever, and perfect, I had to stand up and applaud. Not only do you have my vote, Mister Librarian; But you have my soul.
Cumbine
This map gives me BioShock Vibes
This map was insane!
I don't know why but I suddenly want to see a video of you doing GModVR exploration but we also get to see you from an outside perspective. Like as a player 2 who is only playing normal gmod without vr
how do i FIX the lag and the buffer and stuttering ? PLZ bro š
There is also a few buttons which you can press to sound and alarm in that room at the ending should try them its fun
This video solidifies it… The Librarian is BASED
you've been down there for 29-30 minutes
Rp_industrial17 vibes
I know the guy who made this map. So trippy to see it on my recommended
When you were asking if anyone else does the "blub blub blub" bit underwater, all I could think of was good ol' Freeman's Mind
To my mind, the marshal, masculine, and strong-man ethos was generally more prevalent in pre-modern societies. And they were functional societies. Albeit, they had more of a āhave to be cruel to be kindā mindset.
Also, you've identified the key reasons for the fascist turn in contemporary liberalism. Tolerance and inclusion are paradoxical in that too much of a good thing is bad; you cannot tolerate the intolerant infinity because you cannot have a tolerant society if you do. What tolerant society actually means becomes increasingly twisted, and more and more people must no longer be tolerated in order to have it. Today's liberals will shame you to hell if you deviate from their ideological dogmas, but as long as you do conform, they will enable whatever destructive behaviour they tolerate (thuggery, destruction of property, physical assault, and other forms of intimidation…)This is an unresolvable contradiction for liberalism.
ily
How do I start this map it instantly crashes when I try
Anarcho-Librarianism huh, interesting you said that, tehehehe.
