  1. “Another incredible episode“ I feel like we’re just going to keep hearing that until the end of the series. Glad you’re enjoying the series so much 🙂

  2. I sit here, as a student studying narrative, animation and other related subjects, eagerly listening to what you have to say because you are so insightful. You have me thinking about storylines and subplots at a depth I’d scarcely apply to the people I know in person. As much as I enjoy the typical reactor reaction of ‘hoenheim is a piece of ——‘, it’s so refreshing to have someone give him some faith from the get-go. Great episode, great reaction / discussion – I look forward to the rest.

  3. One of the best episodes of the series. The "fight" between Mustang and Lust was one of the best animated scenes in the series and one of the most epic ones too. But the intensity of the whole episode is what makes it so memorable. It's one breathtaker moment after another. Also, that "cliffhanger" is pretty great.

There are lots of great scenes involving so many great characters: Riza's breakdown, Alphonse's showdown of determination, Barry's death, Mustang's epic entrance, Lust's memorable last words, Havoc's fall, Winry's care for Alphonse, Edward's anger after seeing his missing father after many years, Hohenheim's sorrowful look… My favorite episode so far.

Man this is my favourite ed in this show. You absolutely hit the nail on its head about the way it was utilised in the episode to sell the crucial moment to us audience.

FMAB has really some of most memorable OPs and EDs. I am sure you'll love them as they are gonna come by.

  6. Full Metal is such a great story, one of the first animes I finished! Haha~
I HAVE A SUGGESTION ON AN ANIME YOU SHOULD WATCH!
The Fate series. There is a LOT of content to watch, and I think you would love every second of it! That universe is very expansive and shit. If you read this, please. Barely anyone reacts to it. You are so smart and get every detail, so I would watch you discuss it if you do watch it!

Fate has historical figures in it, so it's fun that way! The magic/power system is great too! THE LORE IS AMAZING AND THE CHARACTERS TOO!
They have movies too! It's just…I can't praise it enough. From the main continuity, to the other different timelines, everything. It's my Top number 1 favorite anime series (movies/visual novel/books/even the games).

There is also a new Fate anime coming out soon. Called Fate/Strange Fake, it was just announced like 2 months ago.

  7. Alongside AoT episode 5, this is one of the handful of episodes for which I vividly remember my first reaction to when I started watching anime back in 2014. It's still absolutely incredible 8 years later.

  8. I'm glad you are checking out some scenes in dub as well. I don't care for debates about which is better overall but I do have a strong preference for the dub in some scenes and for some characters. To me, Mustang came across more pained and angry in the dub during the Lust scene for example.

  9. One of the standout episodes of the anime. It's so cool when sometimes you watch episodes centered around others and don't even realize that you haven't seen a 'main' character like Ed because it's still equally enjoyable without the protagonist in focus. I mean, getting emotional for a convicted serial killer's death? That's FMAB.
It's only a personal preference and not a criticism but the English VAs for Riza, Roy and Lust really sell it better for me during the final encounter. Riza's outburst, Roy's anger and Lust's screaming feel a lot stronger to my ears 😬 But hey, still pretty epic irrespective of dub/sub.
And I've heard people say this a lot, that Hughes kind of saved Roy's life. Referring to how close Lust was to skewering Roy in that shot, but she was short of that one teeny regeneration, because Hughes had dealt a massive damage when he threw his knife at her head. You could argue that all the subsequent injuries Lust had to recover from used up the stone's power as well so in a way everyone contributed, but there's definitely something nice about the sentiment that Hughes looked out for his best friend even after death.

  10. you know, fmab is one of those anime that most people watch right when they are beggining watching anime, so after years people end up forgetting how great it is, the animation, the chars, the plot and pace are all top notch, it has been 1st place on MAL over a decade already and it is not because of bots like some people think, FMAB really is one of the greatest anime out there, and to me the only one to keep this high level quality over 64 episodes . I dont see any other anime came close to it in the near future, snk was my hope, but season 4 was a massive quality drop xd. I am very happy that you decided to watch it even tho it is not getting much attention in comparison with new anime releases

  11. English dub is the best anime dub. If you started in sub the dub won't ever feel right.
If you ever rewatch definitely check out the dub

I love fmab, I'm glad you are enjoying it, I've watched it probably 100 times over. To me it's the greatest fiction story ever. But the anime production matches it with the music and animation
