We’re basically going all in on a true freshman in 24.

I don’t see how/why wasting a year of ASimmons eligibility (even with a RS) is a good idea. There is no way he can possibly be ready for SEC football in 2023.
He’d be a true Soph or RS Fresh when Lagway is a true Freshman.
This sets up a problem with eligibility and playing time for them during their tenures at Fla.
IF ASimmons stays in the 25 class he can RS his first year on campus which would be Lagway’s true Soph year.
This means if Lagway is a 3 years and out player like many expect, ASimmons can take over as the starting QB as a RS Soph with 3 years of eligibility left.
Just seems odd to me

I don’t like this at all for 2 reasons, 1st this is gonna severally hurt Austin Simmons playing career for Florida. Since he’s transferring right now that means he’s only gonna have 2 months to get ready for Utah? There’s no chance he’s starting this year so that will mean he’s only gonna start for 1 year in 2024 then get benched for DJ. We’re seriously gonna burn our 2025 QB just to use him for one year? This doesn’t sound smart at all. The 2nd reason why I don’t like this is because this shows billy has a bad record with transfer QB’s. He got both jack miller and Graham Mertz out of the transfer portal and he has such poor confidence in either of these QB’s that he would rather transfer a 2025 commit to the current roaster??? That must mean the QB room is looking extremely rough right now 😬 God I hope I’m wrong.
He is very young. He graduated HS two years early. He can get a jump on his education, training his body….and start collecting NIL $ right away. This is better than wasting another year in HS. I can see why he is better off this year at UF rather than HS. What does he lose? Starters reps in HS rather than experience in a D1 QB room where he gets to really learn the game and practice with high D1 WRs, etc…
Reeks of desperation. Sun Belt Billy should have gotten a better QB from the portal. Getting a QB to sign 2 years early makes no sense, and is not in the kid’s best interest.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen! This kid won't be ready for another 3 years. I guess BN is desperately trying to save his job. Florida 5-7 at best this season it doesn't matter who the QB is.
