On Friday, to celebrate the 20th birthday of ESA’s Mars Express, you’ll have the chance to get as close as it’s currently possible get to a live view from Mars. Tune in to be amongst the first to see new pictures roughly every 50 seconds as they’re beamed down directly from the Visual Monitoring Camera on board ESA’s long-lived and still highly productive martian orbiter.
“This is an old camera, originally planned for engineering purposes, at a distance of almost three hundred million kilometres from Earth – this hasn’t been tried before and to be honest, we’re not 100% certain it’ll work,” explains James Godfrey, Spacecraft Operations Manager at ESA’s mission control centre in Darmstadt, Germany.
“But I’m pretty optimistic. Normally, we see images from Mars and know that they were taken days before. I’m excited to see Mars as it is now – as close to a martian ‘now’ as we can possibly get!’

We will need "signal repeaters". Communication is the Alpha and Omega for Control. We rely only on communication antennas and not intermediate repeaters to solve signal attenuation and signal quality issues.

Where did all the stars go?
In about 50 years we'll be having a Google Earth version for pluto.
LOOKS FAKER THAN THE MOON LANDING……….SHEEP BEING SHEEP
Congratulations!
Amazing!!
That planet will never be the second earth the atmosphere has gone forever…
Helo
I wouldn't call it a live stream. It's just a low res picture per minute or so, which was done many times before.
You dopes will believe anything
hmmm … is the image really that bad?
We almost ate Mars the other day Earth did I've seen Mars up-close-and-personal and the atmosphere smells and tastes bad me and about 20 schoolchildren that were either walking to their school bus or going to their parents cars for parent drop-off I was sitting outside waiting for my coffee water to heat up smoking a cigarette I'm an astronaut I've been into space accidentally before but this time we had to call the present and accounted for cadence to make sure all of the students and parents were present and accounted for please push toward the night sky with the rotation to place the Earth back in orbit if you are viewing remains and debris on your satellite it is from the planet in solar system that exploded after a baseball with hit in space they do have clearance to land permission is granted you will help them any survivors will be helped they don't have a planet anymore space isn't some place to play around
You should have been here this morning we've already seen Mars in an up-close-and-personal Manor
It’s a dead planet, cheaper to live stream from the Arizona or Nevada desert, exactly what have you achieved? The Webb Scope has achieved more from a further distance with more useful information.
Азаматсыңар Марстан түз эфир алып берип !👍🏼
Amazing
Hi ESA ! Good to see you ! I Am Goddess Universal
I AM ASKING ABOUT NEW CAPITAL VENTURES , WITH ESA , LETS COLLAB!
May the people residing on Mars achieve victory in their worker's revolt over their Mars Colony Corporation and International Corporate Conglomerate oppressors! We, the Terran public, stand firmly with our fellow humans of the working class on Mars. We share their desire to overthrow misplaced corporate and military power, their desire for reasonable living conditions, and we share their aims of planetary freedom and unity! May we build bridges between the people of Terra and the people of Mars, celebrating our shared history in the crucible of covert military space operations.
Excellent, thanks for the broadcast.
A single static blurry image moved across the screen staccato?
This is most hillarius thing 😂
