Hi everyone! In this video, I explore the town of Fauresmith in the Southern Free State province of South Africa. Fauresmith is situated approximately 130 kilometres from Bloemfontein and 11 kilometres from Jagersfontein. It is the only town in South Africa and one of only three in the world that features a railway line running through the middle of the main road.
This was my first visit to Fauresmith, so it is very much a first impressions video. Join me on a tour of this unique town where we will visit the town hall, the prayer tree, the Dutch Reformed Church and various streets featuring lots of interesting architecture, art and flora. I will also visit a local deli where I indulge in a Free State delicacy, namely a vetkoek (or “fat cake”). It was a scorching hot day with the thermometer clocking a cool 38 degrees Celsius. Throughout the vlog, I will also talk about the history, share interesting facts about the town and articulate my thoughts.
A special thanks to Judy, Lisame and Jacobus for their hospitality, time and insights.

Baie dankie broer.
Fouresmith what a nice clean town in the Free State, and as usual, a great video. Thanks Willie.
Another amazing Video. i have never been to Fauresmith, but after watching this, next time we road trip, this little town will definitely be on our places to see list.
Nice place. Nice video!
Great job Willie. Mooi man ❤️🕊❤️
Baie mooi en skoon dorpie, ook baie rustige atmosfeer. Dankie Willie, jy is awesome ❤
Great video, Willie! Interesting factoid (not sure if you mentioned this, I might have missed it) – In the 19th century, Fauresmith was briefly considered as the capital of the Orange Free State Republic but lost to Bloemfontein by just one vote. So ja, things could have been different…
Hi , I like your trips.
I would appreciate it if you could just announce the number of White residents living in every town,in those small sorts of towns.
Thank you.
A very interesting looking destination… Thanks for taking us along… Lekker man lekker 🤙🏻🇿🇦
Lyk na n droe maar pragtige plek vol vrede!
Willie was daar jare gelede op n verkooptoer toe ek was op universiteit was. Baie goeie video! Groete
Some more beautiful houses and artwork there, Willie😊. I loved The Lavender House. The food you ate looked a bit like our Scottish "mince 'n' tatties" (mince and potatoes) which some people like to eat in a roll or between pieces of bread! Not me though, I eat it the traditional way.. on a plate 😂.
Hey Willie how are you
This is Such a Lovely town I'm enjoying the South Africa content so much keep it up brother 💪🔥🔥
Well done once again Willie.
I like your videos Willie! Very interesting!!😉 👍👌 ❤🌍
I enjoy uour videos. Keep it up
Thanks for showing us around this interesting town. I have never been there myself. It would be great for tourism if they could get some steam excursions utilising that railway line!"
Great video willie as much on the previous video it does has an Australian feel about it especially the scenery very interesting ideal location and much alike. It has been completed how many comparisons are demonstrating not as old times when first discovered but also has indentation to see what formalities they achieved or developed to make the town how it is today. Thank you for visiting this place for others to view and information about certain specific places that often covered by others!
Hi Willie what an interesting and arty town. I wonder how their train systems were running back in the day., very unique with the locomotive on display and train track in the town😊
