The key to finding great quality stone is research! Research the ancient cultures, land access, maps and any site that can streamline your search into finding stone. Most knappers have a cache of locations they frequent to collect stone. Start to build your own, keep it close and you will have free stone, legally collected for years to come/

  1. I really enjoy your videos, I feel extremely relaxed after watching them, thank you for sharing. I’m going to be irritating my wife looking for stones and returning to caveman.

  2. We pretty much only get Quartz and Ironstone out here, ive made a few crude axeheads out of the ironstone but you gotta hit the stone so hard that it actually starts getting dangerous just to flake off the tiniest piece

  6. (long but genuine) i want to express my appreciation for you and your education and insights. i saw you on alone a few years ago, understood why you left, but was always intrigued by your knowledge. a few weeks ago you popped into my 'suggested' completely randomly, just as i was thinking i needed to focus on something fulfilling, and i was hooked. your teaching style is informative while being calming and constructive. my flintknapping tools and flint arrived Friday, and I have been at it all weekend, feeling accomplished, frustrated, and replaying video after video. I look forward to supporting you and learning , see you in the bush!

  7. Took me 3 months to find your channel, of course I love your stuffs cause definitely part of me wants to go away from civilization and live on my own

I have 2 questions actually, your video edits look quite high end right to the thumbnail. How do you manage that if you do that yourself?
Secondly, despite living alone you have good set of clothes. How have you collected those good looking shirts since you live remotely?

Genuinely curious and yeah good wishes for you and your ventures 🙂

  8. Thanks for being mindful of leaving artifacts in place on public land. I know right where you're at and it's a great source and spectacular view on a clear day. It's actually in my daughter's new BLM archaeology area – so a double thank-you!

  9. Hey Donny im a 28 year old new comer to flintknapping. And ive been planning on making some stone hammers to ease my way into it. But not sure on the best type of stone for them, also ive been really curious on the pecking technique you shown in one of your shorts. Id love to see a longer how to video on stone hammers. Thanks for all the info, and the great videos man 🤙Take care.
