Elite Dangerous | General Commentary | Cautious Optimism As The Bubble Burns

My thoughts on the expansion of the Thargoid war resulting from update 14, the feel of related gameplay, improvements that can be made, and speculation about the future.

  1. FDev said if the players do not push them back they will destroy the entire bubble and move on to Colonia after. I think this is if the player base doesn't care anymore then we will burn it down before turning it off

  2. Now imagine, if you will, that this was a lore abiding way for FDev to shut down Elite:. Dangerous by having the Thargoids destroy or mostly destroy humanity, so that they can announce their new game Elite: Deadly.

  3. I doubt shinrarta dezera and by extention jameson memorial will fall. There are too many players that use that system as a home. Most are elite in something and it wont be too far of a stretch to say they have AX ships or even guardian weapons available. If the mechanics fdev told us are accurate. People will absolutely be defending shin d

  4. They are only looking up if you are into Thargoid Combat. Rescue Missions are extremely pants and not a patch on past Rescue missions. 4-5 jumps to the Rescue ship rather than 10mm's in the same system. They pay out is pants. There are no Burning Stations only outposts. Very disappointed.

  5. I'm wondering if the maelstroms aren't some form of teleportation device for something larger, once all 8 are in position, zoooop… Thargoid Dyson sphere warped in… we wanted the motherships, why not the mother of all ships? lol

  6. wait a second. Frontier just recycled assets that were already in the game for years. The only thing they added was the stargoid thunder cloud ( which was already in the game if you went far enough outside bubble). And now i ask where is my new modules weapons and ships. Sickens me the way creators hype minimal effort from frontier. Do players know that other game companies add much more content every few months. Not making players wait years. Not making players sift through game files and use audio spectrum software and online cypher decryptors to solve puzzle. Not making players watch their cringe streams on twitch to get info. Not censoring critics. Not lying to console players then shitting on them. Not delivering an unfinished broken odyssey and shitting on anyone who criticized it with bans and hate campaigns on twitter. Also did i mention that i dont give a shit about thargoids stargoids or any other bullshit "epic narrative" which i easily ignore without consequence.

  7. But those of us who don't have 20 hours a week to grind for engineering and practice the combat tactics you need to be good at to beat an opponent with numerous layers of defenses and which can just shut your ship down at any time can still just trade tea and coffee and shoot at pirates in our antique Cobra MK III right?

  8. I feel like the initial discouragement is gonna fade when the big NPC factions, with their capital ships and government-scale funding, fully mobilize for war. it's only the first week after all, and the war has only just begun for both the humans and thargoids. Just gotta keep blunting the spears and bogging down the outrageous octagons.
